Bold British Columbia
Mr. DanMacK;
Thanks Buddy, I figured you'd be wanting to run your Canadian trains
on "Bold British Columbia" ASAP. Man, this is one tough scenario.
Meanwhile, our very good confidaunt and friend, Mr. Taylor's US SET trains
will do fine. Let me know if I've got everything at least fairly correct.
I've never been to Canada. Lived in northern California for several years,
but, just never got around to going up there. I wished I had. I loved the
beauty of northern Calif. and wished I'd never moved, but...............
Next, on to Mexico!
Always,
Jim Powers

It makes me very glad to see a Mexico map come to fruition. I don't care much for tropic mode, but this may be the start of a new love of a mode!
But then again, in that screenshot of Prince George, it's smack dab in the middle of land. Prince George is supposed to be a port, and in fact, about 10% of Canada's commerce overseas comes from trading there!

Mr. Lakie;
Thanks for the updated scenario list, my friend. I appreciate it, Sir.
Thanks, Mr. CeleronXL, for the 'info'. I'll adjust it. I can only go by the maps I have,
other information need to come from caring members like yourself. Thanks.
BTW, Extreme Cities, (my most popular scenario,) has been downloaded
2,070 times in this topic alone. That's a lot of downloads, man!
Here's a screenie from a game called 'French Connections Ltd', which I'm now playing and having
some great fun. It's from my 'Fashionable France' scenario.

Jim Powers

Adjusted Prince George
Mr. CeleronXL;
OK, I've adjusted the city of Prince George, (see screenie.) My apologies to
all those Canadian seamen who were trying to make it to port there.
Now, does the saved scenario (Trp48.SV0) download to the adjusted scenario?
Let me know if it don't. and I'll try to re-post my scenario.

Jim, looking good, but one question, is it now on Vancouver Island or on the mainland? It should be on the mainland, otherwise, a VERY nice looking Scenario. Love that shot of Lyons too!

Mr. DanMacK;
I appreciate you kind words of encouragement. You asked"Jim, looking good, but one question,
is it now on Vancouver Island or on the mainland?" If you're talking about Prince George,
it is indeed on the mainland. Now, I ask where is Vancouver Island?
Is it the island that Victoria is located on? (See Screenie.)
Thanks Mr. Raichase, for your faithful help and support, My friend.

- Could this be Vancouver Island? It's plenty big.

Vancouver Island is indeed the island where Nanaimo, and Victoria are on.
It is a very good map, and not challenging at all with only ships and airplanes. Although I sorta cheated on my oath to not build trains, but the 3 puny lines I have took a lot of time, stupid hills keep getting in the way.
I was doing pretty good, then I accidentally seeded all of the map!
Good thing the game autosaves.

Mr. CeleronXL;
What do you mean you 'seeded' your map? Below is my rough draft of my
latest scenario "Magnificent Mexico". I see why not too many scenarios of
Mexico are around, tough to build, but, I think I'm getting close.
And I'm also playing a game from "Fashionable France". Here's 30 years later.

They are NOT designed with OpenTTD in mind, they are designed for TTD and TTDPatch.
So whether they work in OpenTTD doesn't really seem that important.
(Probably not since they are in .sv0, and OpenTTD uses .scn?)
And some look like they need new grf's yes.
But in thoery they should work without those grf files.

Hm...I'm not really that familiar with OpenTTD. When I first went to its website, I only read its features in the 'About' section, but never found out what it actually was. Are these scenarios not designed for OpenTTD because OpenTTD is really just a completely new game but with TTD's graphics? Have I not even been playing a real Transport Tycoon game for the past week?

They're not not designed for OpenTTD, they're just not designed specifically for OpenTTD. The scenario will work with TTD, TTDPatch and OpenTTD. OpenTTD is quite a real Transport Tycoon game - it's not an official one as such, but it looks and feels like an official one. OpenTTD uses a different saved game/scenario format to 'normal' TTD, though (although it can read TTD/TTDPatch games). If you're happy with OpenTTD, then please do continue playing with it.White Rabbit wrote:Hm...I'm not really that familiar with OpenTTD. OTTD
Mr. Owen Rudge;
Thanks for explaining to Mr. White Rabbit about OpenTTD. I know 'zip' about
it, and still don't know even why we need it. TTDLX is just fine.
BTW, we'd probably not be playing nor having near the fun of being involved in
The Game, if it wasn't for you, my Friend. Thanks, Buddy, we all love you.
Always,
Jim Powers

Re: OTTD
Hi Jim,
OpenTTD offers many enhancements to the original TTD game, like TTDPatch does. It already offers things like larger maps (up to 2048x2048 tiles, or as small as 64x64 tiles - TTD uses 256x256 by default) and also allows to you to play the game online with other human players. It has various other new features, including many of those currently in TTDPatch, but some areas of the game (such as newgrf support) are not currently up to the standard TTDPatch has set. It's a work in progress, which some people prefer to TTDPatch. If you're happy with TTDPatch of course, then that's fine and good - OpenTTD can still read your wonderful scenarios!
Keep up the great work with the scenarios, I'm sure many people wouldn't be having as much fun with TTD if it weren't for you and your scenarios.

Nice to see ya again Jim.
There seems to be a slight problem with the Mexico map, you completely forgot about La Baya de Banderas, it's a gigantic bay, and you may know it better as Puerto Vallarta's bay, the bay itself is bigger than the New York area! =O
And by seeded, I meant by planting trees the entire map.

Thanks, Friend
Mr. Owen Rudge;
I'm humbled by your kind words, Sir. I feel that whatever I've "added", has
only been because of true encouragement from those, like you, who really cared and
appreciated what I may or may not have accomplished. Thank you, my Friend.
Mr. CeleronXL, I've been to (Love Boat's) Puerto Vallarta. It's just beautiful,
though, I didn't realize the bay was that big. From the maps I was able to get,
when you "lay" the map down in the angle which TTD is set, this is what I came up with.
Thanks for making me aware of this area, Sir, I'll go to work on it.
Always,
Jim Powers
