Mexican Scenario

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. CeleronXL;

I'm glad you mentioned Mexico. I've always wanted to make one, but, other requests
have hampered me making it and then I forgot about it. The angle that TTD maps are
on should make it fit very well, we'll see. Right now, I'm tied up with Japan and also
am starting a western Canadian scenario, so this will give you a few days to give me
information about Mexico, such as ; An Elevation map, a good map of the cities,
and a natural resource and/or map of industries. If you do that, we'll start on that scenario,
ASAP. Thanks again for bringing that to my attention, Sir.

Mr. Raichase, You wrote I'm one of his biggest fans Wink. I should think that the ICE trains
would be a great asset roaring across the landscape. There is a TGV in the Temperate Set,
one of Michaels very old sets, but it relies on using the base TTD locomotives as well, so it
doesn't get used much these days. Pity, the TGV in company colour always looked so good.

I couldn't agree with you more, Sir. Michael Blunck is one of those quiet "movers & shakers"
in TTD, you think? Great Guy!

Mr. The Irish, when I can find time, I'd like to try PikkaBirds UKRenewal set also. What are
the best countries to use with it? That wooden dock IS cool. 8) Mr. Andrez has an excellent
web site (TTD Graphics.) A lot of fun and useful "toys" are found there.

Oh, here's another 'screenie' from "Fashionable France" The guy who designed that Viaduct,
did us all a favor in sharing it with us. Thank you, Sir!

Always,
Jim Powers [/b]

Jim, your Fashionable French scenario is great, I just downloaded it. The "snow in temperate" feature makes it look very good. I really like your scenarios, mainly because they are very detailed. Also I think they are even getting better and better! So keep up the good work :)

Also, I have seen that you often mention America, and that you want to go back home. May I ask you, how come you are living in Israel, and why can't you go back to USA?

Btw, the viaduct screenshot is very beautiful!

Mr. Jacke;

Thanks for your supportive input, Sir, I haven't seen you around, yet, it shows
that you joined 2002. Anyway, I've been working in Israel 9 years and am
a little home-sick, I guess. Many things in Israel are OK, but, courtesy, politeness,
and respect is not a part of this 3rd world country's culture, period. It reminds me
of pictures of the Old Wild West. Whoever has the balls to, does it without regard
for others. So, I class them as idiots, because, without the above subjects, you simply
don't have civilization, as you, (from Sweden,) nor I (America) know it. I don't know
where these people got it, but, they think they are the smartest people on the face of
the earth..........Wrong, Dead wrong! I married an Israeli woman and we are perfectly
happy. Her family, (and almost all Israelis,) more than welcomes us Americans over here,
but they all seem to have inflated egos, that the world owes them a living, and basically
are rather dense, putting it kindly. Since my lovely wife just can't leave her family,
I'm stuck here, but, so much for my problems.

Mr. Michael Blunck, the genius who we all love and thank for your investment in TTD.......
Thanks for answering the snowline.grf question. I should of known it was you., Kind Sir.
Since you only rarely post, I feel it is an honor that you done so, here. :D

BTW, I'm working on those Canadian Rockies in my British Columbia scenario,
a tough one.........but fun!

Jim Powers

Mr. Jim, thank you for taking time to reply. Yes, I joined here in 2002 and haven't yet posted my 500th post. I read this forum almost evey day but I'm not active in any project here or anything and I'm only posting when I have something meaningful to say, so I guess that's why you haven't noticed me before. I'm just one of the many non-contributing regular ttd players :wink:

Jim, you are using Michael Blunck's alpine set, right ? There seems to be a bug in this grf, and there is an ongoing topic about this problem in the ttdpatch problems forum:
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... sc&start=0
Csaboka wrote:I've just hunted down the bug and it turns out to be an error in the coding of the alpine GRF. Hotels are erroneously marked as 2x2 buildings, and since they have only two tiles defined, TTD regards the next two buildings to belong to the hotel. The unlucky two are the statue and the fountain; removing those will clear a 2x2 area since TTD thinks the rest of the building is around.

Until a fixed version comes out, the only way to fix the problem is to disable that GRF altogether.

Problem solved

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. Jacke;

Thank you, Sir. I disabled Alpinew.grf and no more holes. They were even
in the 1st row edges of the large airports. Funny seeing trees in the tarmac.

I always can depend on TTD members to get me out of computers problems.
Thanks. Buddy!

Air Freight Game

Post by Jim Powers »

Say Men;

I discovered this cargo plane made in 1982 called 'Antonov An-124 "Ruslan" (L)'.
As shown in my screenie, it can carry 600 tons of coal, or 150 gold, food, wheat, livestock, etc., whatever. So I'm playing this game "Air freight Transporters"
using only airplanes. This is far different than using all or most all types of vehicles.
I'm having a lot of fun trying to supply food, coal, gold and goods, etc. I'm playing
this game from an altered "Lumber Jack" scenario, which I reduced the
8 cities and "clumped" the raw materials, and nartural resources around a 6 x 6 tile area
(for large freight airport.) This is way harder to do than you'd think!

Maybe Mr. Purno can use something like this for his Monthly Scenario Contest?:idea:

Anyway, here is some Air Freight screenies.

Always,
Jim Powers :wink:

The Plane Set

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. Krtaylor;

Why didn't I know you were involved with The Plane Set? Man, once you start using Plane Set,
You would not go back! I love the many, many types of planes there are, from the Deridgables(?)
to those cool 747's that hold 480 passengers. Now, you know the possibilities this give The Game?
Wow, what Fun!

Thanks, Big Guy! :D

Yes, the dirigibles are lots of fun, aren't they! I can't wait until the Planeset is ready for general release, but it's summer and 459 (the coder) is a little busy. Plus we have more liveries coming in that need to be coded.

Bold British Columbia

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear TT-Forums Members;

I made yet another challenging and (I think) beautiful scenario called "Bold British Columbia". :roll:

"Bold British Columbia" is filled with many different challenges whether you want to build
a RR passenger or an industry system or both! In
"Bold British Columbia", you can also build a huge trucking company, haulin' logs out of the
spectular high mountians to be made taken to one of the paper mills, as well as trucking
livestock and wheat to market, and ..........then there's Coal & Oil.

"Bold British Columbia"should give you many hours of TTD pleasure (That's why I build 'em!) :wink:

Look for "Bold British Columbia" coming out this weekend.
Here's a screenie from it.

Always,
Jim Power

It looks very nice Jim.

I'm still awaiting that Mexico update! :wink:
Although Vancouver Island looks pretty small compared to Victoria's size.
In reality, Vancouver would take up that entire bay, and then some, while Victoria would be a single building. I've actually been to Vancouver! Very nice place, awesome science center.
Imagination! Here, you learn what it is to be human. You are a creator of order, of beautiful shapes and systems, an organizer of chaos.

"Bold British Columbia"

Post by Jim Powers »

TTD Members;

HERE'S "Bold British Columbia"! 8)

Mr. CeleronXL, You're probably right...........but in 1930, [the starting date for
"Bold British Columbia",] I imagine that both Victoria and Vancouver
would be a lot smaller, you think? BTW, Victoria is smaller than Vancouver,
in "Bold British Columbia". If one was to ask why I almost always insert
the name of my scenario instead of just 'my scenario' or something else,
the reason is that I want you to remember which scenario I'm talking about.
And it's like advertising. If you read "Bold British Columbia" three or four
times, you'll remember "Bold British Columbia". While I'm not 'selling' my
scenarios, I'm still wanting you to remember my scenarios when you want
to play a TTD game, that's all. I hope this clearifies my way of presenting
my scenarios.

I haven't forgot Mexico, Sir. The 'Tropic Mode' awaits me. :wink:

Mr. Krtaylor, how's my 'genius' buddy? Japan awaits, and so do we.
Ohh, BTW, A big THANKS to Mr. Shadow XIII for his Registry! Yesterday,
I decided to 'RENAME' my TTD directory. When I went to open TTD, it wouldn't open.
It'd start to open, then say unable to open (registry error 4). Grrrr! :evil:
I even posted a "Please" letter in TT-Forums. Then I got real smart and went to the
topic on TTD problems and presto, there it was, Thank God! Apparently I had
'registry' problems, from just renaming my directory? :oops:

Here's another Canadian screenie from "Bold British Columbia".

Always,
Jim Powers
