Very impressive I have to admit. Reminds me of SimCity! Another technique is that you're building in the year 2001. IIRC, buildings of later years have higher populations per square. So trying this in year 1950 probably wouldn't give such an impressive figure.

Also, what is that S Airport sign doing under the delete button? Have you cleared a small area to put an airport in?

"Outrageous Outback II" is Finished

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear TT-Forum Family;

My latest scenario "Outrageous Outback II" is finished.

In this scenario is 'Sydney II', the largest city TTD city to date.
It's population is 1 1/4 million, yes, that's 1,250,000 people!
To answer Mr. Brax's question, yes ther are [3] Airport spaces. Also
there are [3] other large cities, each having a pop. of over 100,000
people. There are no subways in this scenario. I thought maybe you'd
like to install them yourself, now that you know how, (if you played
some of my other scenarios.) It has mountains and deserts and plenty
of industries also. There are seaports included also. ENJOY! :D

Always,
Jim Powers

i tried to compete with jim powers by making my own scenario :D

it uses the world, its not finished and only has three cities, in the middle of Australia is a city called, "Canberra-Sydney-Perth" population, 21,000; in the japanese islands, a tiny city with potential, "Tokyo-Seoul" population, 4,000 and the pride of the asian continent, "Beijing-Shanghai" reached its 102,000 person, im doing what jim says delete warehouses, fountains, parks and click expand until it wont anymore, i realised that most of the offices wont expand past the tree lined streets, i am wondering how to make it go much much past it, make the tree lined streets further out from the city?

oh and err, i couldn't get a screenshot cos my computer decided not to recognise .pcx files anymore, it use to use microsoft photo editor or something similiar

Dear Mr. Jim Powers,
You did it again :D Only this time i don't think ill play the game but just open it and stare at my montior to this incredible town :shock:
Just wonder, do you think its possible to have just one town what covers the entire map :?: if so than that is your ultimate limit 8) , just how many people can be contained in a city like that. :?:

Building Cities

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. Me_Simon;

What is your population for each of your cities?
Did you combine your cities? I'm not sure about
what you mean. ("Beijing-Shanghai" reached its 102,000 person).

You are on the right track, Sir, just try different ways of laying
out your city. Look, it takes a lot of arranging and re-arranging
to get the larger population. My system is just one way to reach
a million. You might find a better way, I hope you do, Friend.
Keep up the good work and send in a screenshot or two when you
feel you're making progress and we'll see if we can help each other, OK?

Mr. Brax made the comment as to if you make your scenario earlier
than 2001, the building compacity is smaller. He's right, I was making
my scenarios in 1955 and when a fine member of TTD Patch advised
me about this, immediately a got about a third more population!

Hope all this helps you.

Always,
Jim Powers

Dear Mr. Jim Powers;
Had to try this to, to make a super town. I am on my way and reached a modest 300.000 now. :D
I know now this is a "hell of a job", until 200.000 things went verry quick.
Ill procees, i found out that it just a matter of migrating buildings to the perimeter.
And i hate the shopping malls 8)

Mr. Zimmlock;

Well, Big Guy, you're looking good, and I knew you could if you
applied a few rules which I had to experiment to get. Keep it up.

i made the scenario from scratch using the sv0creator, it was a picture of the world i used and named cities according to their location in the map, i didn't combine the cities, more like naming the cities according to what cities it covered, e.g. Beijing-Shanghai covered that area of china (and mongolia and russia and...others) there was no more room for expansion, if there are any buildings i should replace, just tell me :wink:

the second one is just a picture of the region

oh and also, Sydney II's population dropped to 300 000 while other cities, Newcastle, Perth and Melbourne halved in population

by the way, i altered your scenario just so i can have massive room for 14x14 stations
due to the city growing smaller i was forced to close one of my large train stations "Sydney West", the office towers disapperead :(

the first fountain is within "Tokyo-Seoul's" authority/local council area, so if i change it, it replaces it with another fountain, it did this several times and i gave up

City Building

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear City Builders;

I'm proud and impressed of your work. As to the fountain tile,
I've had the same situation, Mr. Me_Simon, the same tile keeps
coming back. Here's what I do; Click the 'road'in the space beside
the 'fountain' tile, then, blow up the 'fountain', and after it turns
back to 'grass', click it a few times more. Try this on either side of
the 'fountain' tile. This usually draws a different amount of 'energy' to
cause the computer to come up with a different tile. I hope I've explained
myself, Sir.

As for 'unwanted' buildings. get rid of the cinemas and theaters, they're
worth only 35 people, and warehouses hold only 8 people! Remember,
you need space for your cities to grow, and when you add a new town
even fairly near your major city, that new town will take a chunk of
your population. UGH! :twisted:

What's that Building

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. Me_Simon;

I meant to ask you, what's that unusual building beside your
Central [large] RR Station? I don't have a building like that, Sir.
I use DOS TTDLX.

cool! :P

this is my future site of my HQ, im going to use that cheat that demolishes it, but i cant remember what it was cht : demolishhq or something like that, it was posted here, im trying to look for it :P

This centre was built after I was named 'Tycoon of the century' (1 000 performance rating) in 2050. This centre took five years to build at a cost of $32 million. Small industries are incorporated into the facility with its own local power station importing coal from Warsaw (by air then a transfer by sea at copenhagen), its own oil refinery (to service the four glasgow oil rigs) and a paper mill and printing works for producing paper and printing properganda throughout Europe to use my transport services. [please ignore my mistake on the road system :P ]. The centre has its own transport facility, to cater for the employess to ride around the centre which is as big as the whole of the United Kingdom (adjoining).

believe me, it will look better with the HQ built into it :P
