Sorry in advance for being a noob but I am lacking the new ECS cargoes transport (trucks, freight carriages, etc) Do I need to download a vehicle set .grf? If so which would you recommend?

For instance I want to transport some sand using trains, when I go to buy a vehicle the sand carriage is not there, and neither are any of the other “new” ECS vector cargo carriages.

I am using open ttd (1.1.2) and have the following vectors (1.1.2) loaded:
Town
Basic II
Chemical II
Machinery
Wood Agricultural

Thanks.

Yes you need vehicle NewGRFs (rail, road, ship, air) which support the new cargos
Concerning ships, there's basically only FISH, in the air only av8.
For road and rail most sets support it. If you want mostly vehicles just being able to refit to the new types go for OpenGFX+ Trains and OpenGFX+ Road Vehicles.

And update to OpenTTD 1.1.3 for the added bug fixes ;-)

For ships, there is also a Newships version that supports ECS: http://www.tt-ms.de/forum/showthread.php?tid=4929 (website in German).
The sailing ships grf also supports ECS cargoes.

I've bought a train with 6 wagons of coal. I found the vehicle TTD earn income, but the new vehicle can not earn income.
In the game I have some new GRF files. Over the last year was train number 1 in the euro minus the 21104th
Train as we unloaded but proves to me at all the green text above with the station numbers (25.542 Dollars).
I attach a save, 2 screenshots. I searched the error. GRF files, and then in game settings.

I have problems with traffic lights and side signals. Trains make me an accident, or going the wrong direction. Alternatively, a train station is next and is compared to the first train.

The GRF "experts hard industries" has a callback for cargo payment. In your savegame that grf gives a payment of zero for the coal you're delivering. I have no clue how that newgrf works internally.

Using multiple industry newgrfs (ECS, manual industries, experts hard industries) will never work properly.

I seem to be having a problem with a tinning factory in a tropical climate. I was delivering only steel until the amount stockpiled was greater than the max allowed, so it stopped accepting steel. Now when I deliver livestock/fish, it is added to the stockpile, but it disappears straight away, not over time like all the other industries, and doesn't seem to have any impact on the amount of food produced. Also, the stockpiled steel is never used, so I can't deliver any more.

You are delivering very small amounts of livestock/fish. Providing more of them allows usage of steel.

I suppose this is a bug:
If I disable the stockpiling limit in the basic vector, sand pits will only have two tiles which accept 1/8 vehicles, making the player unable to deliver vehicles to the sand pit. See http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=58039

I am using a couple different ECS vectors and for the most part am enjoying the challenge.

But I noticed something when delivering vehicles, I am losing a ton of money when delivering them.

Here's how I have it set up:

( Vehicle Manufacturer ) --> ( Central Staging Station ) --> ( Local Staging Station ) --> (Delivery vehicle pickup ) --> Drop off at location.

Here is the result of the final vehicle drop off:

A seen in action

Savegame for this happens to be in the crash file I posted:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/54593099/OpenTTDCrash.7z
Funding industries often seems to crash the game.

To the makers of this project, thank you, I know it was an incredible amount of work.

A couple things I'd love to see:
  • Make town destinations (like car dealership, gas stations) a permanent location.
  • Make them fundable :)
  • Make compatible with the "Manual Industries" grf, or include those features.

Yes there are parameters to control many aspects, but in my current game I have industries locked down and am still having new ones pop up all over my map. :(
  • 32 bpp!! :D And, when the trunk includes the feature, extra zoom 32bpp sprites.

Would be a parameter someday

Impossible. They are houses.

would not be done

There is a parameter to disable appearing of industries

If you want to be cheeky, you could simply take all the 8bpp sprites, convert them to RGB(A) 32bpp sprites without any other editing and then say, "There, this is now a 32bpp set." :P

Get a vehicle set of your choice from the content download. Most of them support ECS, or have an extension available to add it. Take one set of each: trains, road vehicles, planes and ships.
If you can't choose: go for the OpenGFX+ variants of each. Then you get the default vehicles, but with the added option to transport ECS cargos.
Or if you want more vehicles: eGRVTS, av8, FISH and a train set of your choice.
