I will put a set of pit lanes in the AuzSportObjects as well. Where the pitt lane is overlap, I joining the and make them a 2x3 size tile so be no overlap.

Might have it finished in an hour or so.

Cheers

EDIT: I going crazy as forgetting what I doing and what I done  .

I had forgotten where I put things  .. the Pit Lanes are in AuzSportObjects .. and the Overlap starting grids and finish lines are in the "AuzQT65CarRacing". For some silly reason when asked a few posts back I thought I had them all in the "AuzQT65CarRacing".

The 2x3 size tile I mentioned above didn't work, as again I forgot that the object race track roads are autolay and the 2 don't like each other.

Now to plan to make another autolay road and place some cars from Funny Cars on them.

has any one heard the song by Napoloen XIV .. They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa! 8o

a bit like the song .. your might be right and I might be crazy. :D

When we use the autolay roads the end pieces have those barriers. I removing those barriers from the 1st 2 of the road choices .. this will allow be to make some object roads with the racing cars from Funny Cars.

I got the cars ready, just need to put them on some roads.

EDIT:

Forgot to upload this sample of cars on the starting grid.

How many cars do we want on the grids? Each tile will hold 4, but see if I can do several tiles of mixed car colours.

I would not do all this nasty swapping if I didn't keep getting new ideas :D  :D . And sometimes it the fault of members making some of those suggestions .. so if I wear my covid-19 mask while coding will that protect me :D :D :D

The next few days hope to transfer the overlap grandstands, starting grids, etc from AuzQT65CarRacing to AuzSportObjects.

Main reason I put them where I did as not thinking they be used in normal objects as well.

Hope to also add Basketball and tennis over the weekend.

They might look something like these. City Objects already has a single tennis court so I looking at idea of multiple courts. Probably be good to make some without fences as well.

I think those mesh wire fences excellent so plan to also make a separate set of those with out the pathways to use how we wish.

So those are some of my plans today and weekend.

Since these are objects and there is no size limitation why not give a try to properly scaled stadiums? Cars next to the stadum look very big compared to the playing field.

Instead of 2 soccer fields you could replace with one with tracks around.

Another 3 points:
Missing coaches/spare players benches.
Missing exit for players: ads are blocking the way.
Missing corridor in front of the seats -> bring ads forward to create it (and add a lower wire fence*).

Just had a look at dimensions of a car and soccer field .. soccer fields between 100 and 130 meters (yards) long The length of a motor vehicle seem to be around 4.5 to 5 meters long. That be 20 vehicle vehicles to fit length of a soccer field. I just did a test and 10 cars will fit in a soccer field. So your idea make soccer fields double in size? (EDIT: Just had a quick look at a soccer field .. to enlarge it it would be a 4x6 tils in size.)

What do others think of that? I increase sizes of sporting fields?
perverted monkey wrote: 13 Nov 2020 03:30 Instead of 2 soccer fields you could replace with one with tracks around.
Those soccer fields are single fields and designed so can place as many as you like together. The stadiums are designed to go around no matter how large tour sporting complex is.

Good idea .. shall see what can be done.

I noticed that too last night .. so see what I can do about it.
Missing corridor in front of the seats -> bring ads forward to create it (and add a lower wire fence*).
There is a narrow corridor between the ads and the first seats, but maybe I could remove the first seats to make corridor wider.
*Some OTTD citizens are quite unruly and will disrupt the game!
If the crowd gets out of hand I will move those wire fences and place in front of the seating areas. If necessary I will even electrify them. :D

But before I start any of those changes, see what others thing about making the soccer and other sport facilities larger.

Changes:
Sporting fields.png
Sporting fields.png (40.98 KiB) Viewed 2336 times
* Moved the objects from AuzQT65CarRacing to this set.
* Added basketball courts with and without fences
* Added Tennis courts with and without fences. (All my tennis courts have 2 courts .. if you only need a single tennis court use the one in Flogeza and Hans Kruzer's City Objects.
* Added benches, spare players and coaches to AFL, NRL, Hockey and Soccer fields.

Changes yet to be made:
* As suggested by perverted monkey see if I can make changes so players can exit and enter the playing fields.

I think the current sizes are good the way they are. I understand they may be off scale, but I think making them bigger wouldn't really solve the problem, as then the stadiums would occupy a disproportionate area of a city. That's just my opinion, I know they'll look great regardless :D

I think the stadium looks strange with 2 playing fields inside, I vote for an option like this:
(Of course with things on the correct scale, mine is just a quick edit to show the idea.)

The 2 soccer fields was just so I could show off the extras with seating and the wire fences.

But just realized one mistake I made. Originally the soccer and some other sporting fields could fit inside the athletics track, but now they can't .. what a bumma ..

I made a Lawn Bowls and to fit 6 rinks in I needed almost a 2x2 tiles .. and a Lawn Bowls field is usually 38.5 square meter. Some a bit smaller at 33.5 sq m.

(For those who still talk in feet and yards .. a 1 meter is almost same as 1 yard).

You can see by my template how much of a 2x2 tile set was left over. So I average a 2x2 tile would could equal 50m x 50m.
Lawn Bowl Template.png
Lawn Bowl Template.png (4.75 KiB) Viewed 2158 times
This image can see difference in size between the Lawn Bowls and a soccer field and athletics field.
athletics and Lawn Bowls.png
athletics and Lawn Bowls.png (67.22 KiB) Viewed 2158 times
A soccer field is between 100m and 130m long and can be between 50m to 100m wide. So a 100m X 100m for a soccer field be a good size. So based on that I need a 4x4 size tiles set for a soccer field plus a bit of room all around it for benches and reserved players? So probably a 5x5.

So how good are your calculations?

To top it all off .. 2 pieces of a train fits in 1 tile. A passenger carriage or a diesel locomotive average about 20 meters long, so that makes 1 tile 40 x 40 meters. (But most people I know for making scenarios work on a tile as 50 x 50 meters. So maybe I should be shrinking what I making and not enlarging it.

But it is impossible to make all the game to scale .. imagine how large the ships and planes will need to be.

So do I keep to the scale I working on, or do change it all?

It not that he don't like it, but building it all to scale asking a bit much I think.
in this game he can't even compare the scale with reality.
The Lawn Bowls it almost to scale for the greens and if it placed near other sport things it looks weird. So if I include it in set, it something you put the other side of the city away from other sporting
things so not look strange.

as mentioned in my last post .. 2 pieces of a train fits in 1 tile. A passenger carriage or a diesel locomotive average about 20 meters long, so that makes 1 tile 40 x 40 meters. (But most people I know for making scenarios work on a tile as 50 x 50 meters.)

Comparing sizes of different sports playing area.

Soccer field .. 100m by 100m so be a 2x2 tile.
Basketball Court .. 28 x 15m ( 1/2 a tile).
Tennis Court .. 24 m long by 11 wide (1/2 a tile).
Cricket usually 180 long and 150 wide .. (3 1/2 tiles long and 3 tiles wide).
Lawn Bowls - 40 x 40 .. (almost 1 tile).

Most of those if made to scale be no room for the making on the field and in some cases no room to place people.

So we don't really want them to small, but also not to big.

If I tried to work to scale .. what scale should be best to use is what I like to know before I do any more to these.

TTD scale is a mess. But 40 meters for a tile is too much.
Compare the double fields stadium you made and see how the seats around suit better for a proper real life-life stadium than the smaller one you made.
That seems logical. 5x5 for a round stadium, 5x3 for a rectangle?(+ Seats around.)

The problem with scale is that they have to be relatively proportional to the original Transport Tycoon's ridiculously small building scales. It doesn't make sense to make them more proportional to real life unless you're also investing in re-designing all the buildings. Which is something I whole-heartedly support, but it's probably not going to happen anytime soon.

I think that will always be a problem, but if some one start working on things to a rough scale others might follow suit with other projects.

I feel in most cases a 1x1 tile could be scaled at 40 m x 40 m (40 yards by 40 yards) But the tennis courts, basketball courts and the lawn bowls be so small be hard to see them. Tennis courts by the information I found are 28.65 meters (94 ft) long and 15.24 meters (50 ft) wide. So how would that fit in a 1x1 tile. Those of you who might not know a game tile is 32 pixels by 32 pixels.

I'll think about these for a few days and see if can figure best way to go.

Cheers all
