New posts in OpenTTD AI forum

Post by ChillCore »

Hello,
Would it be possible for the new posts in the AI forum to show in the active topics list or is there a reason that they are not listed?

For the moment one has to remember that the forum is there to check for new posts from time to time.
Also I think that the subsection is not getting the attention it deserves this way and new users might not even be aware of it's existance.

Most often I access this forum via the 'new posts' - but that definitely is not something done when visiting this forum infrequently or for the first time. Maybe indeed the NoAI should become a sub-forum to OpenTTD just like the "OpenTTD Graphics" and "OpenTTD Problems" are: OpenTTD NoAI or OpenTTD Computer Players?

'View new posts' is only available while being logged in unfortunately. I did not even notice that link untill now.
I usually browse the forum while being logged out. If I do not log out after posting I forget to do it. :)
As I have no cookies enabled, I prefer the real ones, I am not automatically logged in neither.
I do not want other people to be automatically logged in when using my pc, not that it happens often.

Maybe moving one level up would not be bad too, I did not think of that, but it would still need a click in the ACP by or beloved site owner to show in the active topics.

OpenTTD NoAI is fine but OpenTTD Computer Players might be more understandable for newbies?

+1 for moving it up a level.

Actually, I'm looking in forum suggestions and feedback coz having the NoAI as a subforum of General has gotten annoying enough for me to bother looking for some solution.
The thing that has been bugging me is how you have to do 'mark all read' in both the General and the NoAI forums for the General forum to show no unread posts. I'm only interested in the general one, not the NoAI, so having to go there all the time for the sole purpose of being able to see if there are new posts in general kind of sucks. If it wasn't a subforum it'd be much better coz then I could ignore it like the others I'm not really interested in.

And here I was just thinking to myself yesterday about how annoyed I am that NoAI posts are triggering the new post for the General OTTD discussion. Yes, I vote to move it up to its own sub forum under OTTD.

Since NoGo is coming, I think that said forum should be renamed 'OpenTTD Scripting' (name open to suggestions) to also include proyects made with that API. Maybe a bit early, since that project is still on diapers, but nothing disturbing yet.

I have thought about that, but I'd wait until the project is a bit further on, I think.
