Re: [OTTD] 2CC|Trams - Development Discussion
I noticed there are no Finnish trams, maybe one/some from http://www.raitio.org/ratikat/helsinki/hkl/hklind1a.htm would fit into the roster?

I know Britain at the moment doesn't have tonnes of tram routes, but are there any more UK trams? Even if they're pre-WWII trams, they would be very nice!

Re: [OTTD] 2CC|Trams - Development Discussion
It's kinda problematic because outside of some truly iconic ones like the Blackpool Balloon trams or the Dick-Kerr types, nearly all trams in UK were the same models that were coming out of the US and Germany - single-deck open-side "California Combination", closed-side "Metropolitan", or double deck versions of the Metropolitan.

I guess the UK wasn't that original when it comes to trams

No, they were not. In fact they typically were quite behind on the trend, and in the early years of horse trams and later steam trams private operators faced backlash and severe restrictions from the government when Germany, France and the USA completely embraced the technology. Much of the rolling stock was imported from the US with UK carriage builders providing the final assembly and sale.

@doxlulzem - Regardless of this "lack of originality", I'm open for suggestions. Take a look at our tracking table and if you find anything that fits...
Just please don't suggest anything without a few pics and (at least most) stats - a link to e.g. wiki pages or something similar would be helpful.

Re: [OTTD] 2CC|Trams - Development Discussion
Good progress on this set!
I'd just like to point out that the front windshield shouldn't be visible in the northbound view. For the windshield to be visible "from behind", according to the TTD perspective, it should be almost horizontal, i.e. follow a very aerodynamic shape as found in, say, some if the modern Shinkansen trains. Here, instead, we're talking about trams, and the windshield is always almost vertical (although a few of them try to look as aerodynamic as a tram could).
This happens, for example, on the Sirio tram. For the northbound view to be coherent with the NE- and NW- bound views, the front windshield must be fully hidden by the roof, and therefore not visible.
If you still have doubts:
1. Look at the sirio's NE-bound view: the front windshield is almost vertical (as it should be) and, in perspective, it's clearly and fully hidden by the roof if you place yourself "behind" and "from the top" of the tram;
2. Now, look at the N-bound view. The front windshield magically changes steep, becoming almost horizontal, so that an observer from "behind" and "on top" of the tram will be able to see it.
This is a very old, common mistake, I think it came from one of the early drawing tutorials...

Re: [OTTD] 2CC|Trams - Development Discussion
Snail, thanks for spotting my mistakes, you're absolutely right, I haven't really thought well of this. I'll correct all affected sprites ASAP.
@Foo - I've uploaded all sprite files on devzone one by one but I'll add a zip file (when I'm completely done) so you can
download them all in one go. So wait just a bit more please.
BTW people, I've completed the last trams from the tracking list, just a few pixels left to tweak in the afternoon.
Also, if you'd be so kind to take a look at the tracking table (at it's very bottom, page 1), I've started researching some "futuristic" stuff. I'd like to ask you for your suggestions too but please respect some guidelines:
- concept trams only - those who will (almost) certainly be produced
- all trams MUST be linked to a specific city (that is developing this concept)
- please attach weblinks to pictures and at least most stats otherwise I won't bother to look further, sorry.
Thank you all!
