You could do that, it was allowed, but it is a bit unfair. Vote for yourselves is against the fair-play.
Anyway I didn't vote, but would have voted for yours.

Oh. I'm sorry, I genuinely didn't know. Should planetmaker remove my vote? I don't want to play unfairly here.

I will just say the chosen title is ridiculous. Did none of you people test the game with sounds enabled? It's far far far beyond unfunny. It's deafening.

I'm proposing the 1.4.3 release switches to the trunk title game, purely for the sanity of my ears. I'm going to assume I will be ignored, so please please please, for the next time you get to vote, turn your f*** speakers on!
He's like, some kind of OpenTTD developer.

Sound should just be disabled for the title screen, altogether, always, no exceptions. ^^

I assume the next title game will come with 1.5.0...any timetable for that?
Is there to be a 1.4.4 first?

Usually the new major release comes in April, but the betas come out around the end of the year.
There will only be a 1.4.4 released if there is a significant bug found in 1.4.3.

We start the first betas usually around the end of the year with the final major release in spring. The titlegame competition for the upcoming 1.5.0 will be held somewhen during winter, but of course you can always try to create a nice game and submit it to the competition when it will be held. The conditions for participation and the requirements for the next one will be about the same as always: no NewGRFs, no AIs, no modified OpenTTD used, but you can cheat as much as you want. Possibly don't use toyland climate.

Likely there will be a 1.4.4 beore end of the year. But there isn't even 1.4.3 yet ;)

how come that a developer comes up months late with his remarks ? also: no problem with "many" sounds here...

I'm also annoyed by the loudness of the titlegame. I simply downloaded the bunch of titlegames in the competition and replaced it with the one I originally voted for.

Just because they develop doesn't mean they actually PLAY the game. That doesn't go for OpenTTD but lots of games.

In that case, I am very sorry I happened to make an entry that was much too loud. I admit that every time I boot up the game, I get blasted with sound. I don't think it's deafening though, but it's just my opinion. I'll keep this in mind when submitting entries for the next titlegame competition.
I'm not being all sarcastic like "oh boohoo someone cant take the noisy awesomeness" or some nonsense. I can totally understand why it would be very annoying to listen to, every time the game starts. I did not take sound into consideration with the entry, only the visuals. I wanted to make a very busy entry because that's how a lot of my singleplayer games end up, as well as my multiplayer ones; Which that entry happened to be. I'll try to remember to reduce the number of noisy things happening next time.

The opening screen of the original TTD only had some music playing; it was really only a few chords, and I can still remember how it sounded: Taa-ta-taa-ta-taata-tat-taa. If there were any traffic sounds at all, they must have been greatly subdued. And then, when you started the game, "My little Red Diesel" set in with a real funky groove. It was great.

While I agree the current titlegame is loud (which doesn't suit me), I want to say it is also impressive and inspiring to a newbie like me - I'm still wondering if I'll ever get to make something like that. Thank you

That music rocked. Also I think if you watched long enough a truck would get ran over by a train.

Dave,
I'm positively certain that the "My Little Red Diesel" came first, at least in my copy of the game. The tunes may have been shuffled around between different releases of the game. I bought mine on a 3½" floppy in the summer of 1995 I think. It may have been sitting at the shelf for some months then. My machine at the time was a 486DX2 @ 50 MHz with 2MB RAM and a 125 MB HDD.

About the opening music: It was only two bars in a loop, and three different notes. It's hardly worthy of the term "music" at all and I doubt if it's copyrightable.

Yes, must be different releases!

The title music I remember was a lot shorter than the other tracks but still clocked in at about a minute and fifteen seconds.
