Yes, that's the way I see it.

As I explained above, fully snow aware platforms are not possible with the ISR ground overlays. To change this, it would need separate code for platforms above the snow line. It would also require a considerable amount of additional graphics. Each level of snow would need to be drawn for all the ground level platforms and non-rack tiles.

Producing all this artwork is certainly outside my limited artistic ability. :?

if you paid someone to clear the platform and they left you with that patchy effect then i think you'd ask for your money back! :P

But it's quite weird to see no snow at all... people just clear the ones most needed, not all. (unless in spring maybe)

If I ran the rail station, *ALL* snow would be gone. That's what I pay people to do (and not incur any medical bills when my employees slip and fall because somebody didn't clear the snow and ice off the platform all the way).

Especially true probably for all those stations where there's no single person around anymore and customers find a ticket machine at best ;-)

True, I forgot just how brutal things are in UK. ;-) That never happens in America because one customer takes a slip and fall in front of your machine and they'll be suing for every dime that machine collects for the next 50 years. :D Still, we are discussing industrial stations and not passenger stations. Unless your industry is the 100% automated Lego brick factory.

I'm not planning to do any further work on snow at this stage. There are more important areas I want to work on, such as the alternative (mud) ground tiles. But I've decided even that will have to wait for a bit longer, as I intend to release v0.9.0 first. If all goes to plan, this should be in a few weeks time.

There is another thing that I would like peoples' opinions on. I'm thinking of removing the ship depot from ISR.

It glitches badly due to the sprites being much larger than the bounding boxes of the original ship depot. This is why it is disabled by default. I suspect that most players never enable it. And I'm not sure that a station GRF is really the right place for a replacement ship depot. :?

What do you think?

I like it, and it seems to be popular enough that it shows up frequently in screenshots. For my own personal tastes, though, it would be nice to have both the default OpenTTD depot as well as the ISR docks and maybe a few other styes. So perhaps what is needed is a separate ISR Ship Depots with some NewObjects that can be overlaid on a basic ship depot tile of some sort.

I have never noticed any glitching in the ship depot. I always have it enabled in my games.

Am I confusing this with something? In 0.8.1 it looks to me as if it'd default to replace the depot (and it looks MUCH better than the regular one) so I'd suspect most people use it. However, it tends to get overwritten with the newships one in my setup ^^;

Basically I'd say it's a matter of personal preference whether you handle these kind of things with extra parameters (both newships and IRS have one for example) or separate GRFs. Personally I'd prefer GRFs as I tend to forget setting up parameters properly before starting a game and it seems a bit more flexible but of course there's this ominous GRF ID limit so keeping things in one set has it advantages ...
... I guess I don't really care either way as long it's available in some way ^^

You're right, in v0.8.1 the replacement was enabled by default. This was an error though, in v0.8.0 it was disabled and it is disabled in v0.8.2.

BTW, why aren't you using v0.8.2? It has some bug fixes and a few new features and it's compatible with v0.8.1.

Mh, no idea, I probably just forgot to update. Doubt there was any deep reason to it. Maybe I wanted to wait for the Bananas upload and then forgot about it or something ... anyways, /fixed just now ;)

Is there any reason why this never got into the set?

The most recent information regarding Oz's ore unloader is here and see OzTrans' replay a few posts further down.

I don't know if Oztrans has made any progress on this, but he has the sprites and I don't. :|

According to OzTrans, it is part of CanStn v2.0 (WIP):

Yes I agree, Ben_K's graphics are among of my favourites from ISR. Of course, they are good for much more than just valuables stations...
