Hey there, been a while since I posted on here but has a crash relating to this mod and i figured id post it.

Firstly, I do understand that since I use a (only very slightly) modified client (day length patch, town names coloured, couple other minor edits nothing major) that in all likely hood there is little that can be done, however I figured just in case it was actually a grf issue I would bring it up anyways.

Before I post the crash logs, please be aware that this crash occurred when changing from an older version of this grf to this one mid game. However I am always VERY VERY careful when doing this. Parameters and location in grf list remains identical and I have changed grf's multiple times with no problems, always to either add new ones or replace older versions. No removals.

I can guess multiple possible reasons for the crash???
1. Incompatibility with something like day length patch (little sense since I could run previous ISR version fine.)
2. Changes from one version of ISR to the next that differ significantly causing issues with existing stations. (my guess is this is likely. understand perfectly if this is the case and will revert to older save and older version)
3. Incompatibility with other grf files. (one thing that jumps to light is the variable snowline mod....snowline changes throughout the year and since snowline versions of the stations have been added this might be an issue)
4. Incompatibility with AI's trying to build new grf stations. They seem to be doing this and it crashed on its own without my interactions so again quite possible)
5. Incompatibility with rail types. Using metro lines. (unlikely since prev. version could handle them and they're not available in game yet! Nobody's built them!)
6. Other reason.

If it's 1 or 2 then there isnt much that can be done i understand but 3 to 6 I figured might be better if I brought it to your attention.

Crash notes follow. Copy pasted them as a notepad file.

Never Mind. I just realised how old my prev. version was. It was pre 9.0 and it says not compatible. I guess this is why.
Feel like such a fool now. Should have done more research before posting. Ah well live and learn.
*slinks away and hopes people ignore foolishness....yeah like that's going to happen :)*

to update from a very old version that is "not compatible":
  1. save the game (to have a clean state to go back to in case you screw up
  2. overbuild all stations with the default station (really, each and every single station tile. including stations from other GRFs that were loaded after this GRF)
  3. remove the GRF
  4. insert the new GRF
  5. rebuild the stations with what you want
the problem is that some station tiles which were passable before might end up not passable with the update, and any trains which are on such a tile will crash the game. this cannot be solved, because the "is passable" flag is not stored, but recalculated from the NewGRF station data.

Yeah I guess I could do that, but the AI players have built them too. Meaning I can't swap those out without buying them out. Which id rather not do for the time being. Also i have literally hundreds of stations and like 950 trains. This game has been going on for along time so there would be a lot to swap out. Guess that happens when you play on 10x day length.

ISR translations can now be done using the eints web translator.

As ISR already has a number of active translators, I decided to add the translators individually rather than giving access to all translators. This also makes it easier for translations to be credited.

I have added all ISR translators who already have a devzone account. These are:
  • planetmaker (German)
    foobar (Dutch)
    George (Russian)
    wojteks86 (Polish)
    GunChleoc (Scottish Gaelic)
    alluke (Finnish)
    Voyager One (Croatian)
    dirace (Simplified Chinese)
The ISR translators who don’t currently have a devzone account are:
  • maquinista (Spanish)
    Wallyweb (French)
    Telk (Korean)
If you guys would like to continue as ISR translators, please create a devzone account and I will give you access.

That leaves the following languages that do not currently have a translator:
  • Estonian
    Hungarian
    US English
I've given access to the devzone user groups for these languages.

Any new languages are of course welcome. Let me know if you'd like to add a new language. :)

For the moment at least, none of the strings need "translation" to US English. I'll monitor any future changes that may introduce new strings that need some changes. :)

I have a translation question.
STR_PARAM_DOCK Disable custom dock
Is this a cattle or a ship dock?

Very good work, I am using these stations since their first version release. There has been major improvements!

One open question: How do you trigger the goods graphics on various platforms. Do you refer to the default cargo ids (http://newgrf-specs.tt-wiki.net/wiki/CargoDefaultProps)? I am asking, since I am using this set along with paper in temperate. But paper doesn't show up at the respective platforms. The cargo id of paper in temperate differs from the cargo id in arctic.

ISR uses cargo labels to determine which cargoes to show.

I guess you are using the NewCargos GRF to give you paper in temperate. This is quite old and so doesn't have support for cargo labels.

Thanks for your quick reply. Cargo labels are the right way :D I guess you are using a translation table inside your GRF.

I am using a very old GRF "Paper in temperate". It doesn't support labels yet. I will generate a new GRF handling the cargo labels instead.

you could simply use 'OpenGFX+ Industries' ;-) It allows you to cherry-pick the industry chains you want to play with.

EDIT 2: i think it was caus eof the DB set. i removed it in arctic, aswell the arctic GRF.... Still i don't know why ;)
EDIT: I noticed that it's cause of the arctic climate. Some tiles can't be build, but why ? Is there a way to build them anyway ? some setting !? thx in advance

NB: i noticed that the DB set is only working in normal climate....meh..

Code: Select all

I hope i'm right here,
i got a problem, that in some games some tiles are not available for build.
As this seems logic for me, that you can't build let's say wood tiles when there is no wood in the climate.
But here, i can't build decorative tiles, let's see in the screenshot: some coal decorations can be build, others not.

I'm playing in arctic climate with the following NewGRFs (see attach):

I have the same problem if i use canadian stations for example. Some buildings just can't be build !?

The tiles that are unavailable can only be built after certain dates.

In the screenshot, the mining truck can only be built after 1960, the mineral front loader after 1970 and the log stacker after 1980. Try starting a new game after these dates.

but you can trick it into thinking alpine is loaded, by making an empty GRF which uses that GRF-ID :p
