Loud cell-phone talker removed from quiet car by police

Post by kamnet »

Yet another odd train story for the day, Amtrak having a passenger removed for being an obnoxious loudmouth:

I wonder how long she was in that car before the police kicked here off apart from that it's about time that happens.

Happens occasionally here too although rare that the police need to get involved...

If you are causing a nuisance in the quiet carriage the guard (if they can be bothered too) will ask you to move into another non quiet carrage.
anyone refusing can be chucked off the train at the next stop (rare but it has happened)

Problem is, at least in the UK, if you book online and reserve a seat, you have no say over whether your reservation will be in the quiet coach or not- Some will want it, others will actively not, but it is pot luck. I'm not sure how sympathetic Virgin's guards (sorry "Train Managers") would be if you asked to be moved...

Note: the train that this happened on does NOT have a quiet car (according to Amtrak's schedule for the route).
