You can say that; I wouldn't know where to look. But you can help getting more information, though that's slightly more difficult.

Go to http://binaries.openttd.org/nightlies/trunk/
Now for the directories from r19163 to r19314 (yes, from low to high) try whether the OpenTTD in openttd-windows-rXXXXX-windows-winXX.zip (extract the whole zip) works. Please tell what r19XXX is the first "nightly" that failed, i.e. the r19XXX with the lowest number that fails. This should give us a better idea when the bug was introduced and what caused it.

Hi,

i have one Problem. After playing the game for some minutes, the Graphic will be crashed. and the game look's like i will play with 32 colors or so. There is no message of a crash, i think there is only the color's are reduced.

When I start the game the colors will be for a second or so in the, i named it "32 Colors mode", and the change back to normal. I don't had this Problems with Versions lower the 1.0

I work with an Intel Core 2 Duo with 3 GHz, and an Radeon HD 4850 my OS is Windows 7 64-Bit.

  • Do you have any NewGRFs?
  • Is your '32 color mode' pink/brownish?
  • Does this happen in both windowed and fullscreen-mode?
  • Are you able to produce a desktop screenshot or photograph showing off this 32 color mode?

I have download some newGRF but i start a new game without newGRF, only the orginal Game Graphic's. I have tried it with the now OpenGRF, its the same. But this Colorswitch is not every time i played.

Since your posting i have started the game to make a scrennshot. and there was no Problem ?( . So i tried to switched between Full Screen and windowd mode. And the the colors go to "32 mode" but only for 5 seconds and then back to normal.

If i tried the new Version of OpenTTD firstly, the colors didn't go back to normal.

If i make a screen with Strg + s the saved picture will be in normal colors although the picture on the screen is in "32 color mode" -> picture 1

If i take a screen with the print-key on my keyboard the screen will be black with some litte orange details -> picture 2

So i take my digicam to make a photo -> picture 3

What is the "32 colour mode" you refer to? That what you show in picture 3?

Assuming the answer to the question of planetmaker is 'yes', pic 1 seems to proof that OpenTTD does not change the colours internally. This is kind of expected for me, otherwise, we'd have many more bug reports.

Looking at pic 2, I see nothing, not even your orange things, no idea what that means.
Pic 3 looks like reverse video to me.

Assuming my conclusion drawn from pic 1 is correct, the problem seems to be either in the SDL library, or it is in how your computer handles video, ie a video driver / card / monitor problem.

Does this happen in windowed mode too?
How do other applications look when this happens? (If SDL does something weird, it should be only the OpenTTD window, else the other applications should be affected too I think.)

I can reproduce it and I would blame it on user error.

While in fullscreen mode select a resolution that your monitor does not support.
Changing the resolution to one that is supported fixes the problem.
In windowed mode this does not happen because the window is resized as opposed to having the ingame view being stretched to fit the screen.

I am pretty sure this would happen with any application.

@Scomar:
You can make sure this does not happen again by reading your monitors manual, if you have it, and only select screenresolutions that your monitor supports.
In some (rare) cases you can break your monitor beyond repair. (eg. refresh rate too high in combination with a wrong resolution.)

I have a Samsung Syncmaster T240 its an 24" Wide TFT and 1920 x 1200 will be supported, i have looked in the manual. But I played always with this resolution in earlier versions of openttd and I had never problems with the graphics. Maybe it's an user error, maybe not.

If i try to reduce the resolution, it will be the same effect like before in full sreen mode.

So I made some test's with running in window mode, and there are no Problems with none of each resolution, from 640x480 over 1280x960 up to 1920x1200.

In that case i will try the window mode in future. But thanks for helping.

I have a SyncMaster 2243 and it also supports 1920 *1200.
My fullscreen mode fails on 1600 *1024, which is not available while in windowed mode, and maybe a few others.
Forgive me that I do not feel like testing them all for the reason I mentioned before.

I think that if you select the resolution in windowed mode first and then swith to fullscreen you will be safe. ;)

Hi all,

I was just testing the latest 1.0.0RC2 when something came up. No, nothing serious but more a bit of a wondering. I was playing the desert scenario, nothing added!!!!, and i looked at the cargo prices, and saw that wood would bring me the most money. So, i started looking for one, or two, but i could not find one forest.
Now, how is that possible? Have i overlooked something? or am i asking stupid questions, again?

(The next thing i need is a cfg file. i copied mine, but it would be nice if the first start of OTTD made a cfg file with user adjustable settings in it. It's just a little thing.... thanks..)

Thanks for replying....in advance....

You need to build a lumbermill that chops trees (in the rainforest). Yes, it is right that it is not build automatically; that's the price for a high payment.

It does that. Check readme.txt to find out where it places that config file.

And lumber mill needs trees for logging, production decreases otherwise.

No, please create a bugreport at bugs.openttd.org. Don't forget to include your crash.log/dmp/sav/png to bugs.openttd.org and any way to reproduce the crash.

I have the same problem as some of the other people in this topic. The new release works perfectly on my PC, but it is laggy and slow on my laptop. I did not have this problem with any of the previous releases. Is there any way known to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

I haven't had any problems, but you might wanna check out the beta 6 GRFs that George posted in the ECS Vectors support thread. I don't think those are on BaNaNaS yet.

I have to update the problem. My wife, who used my account to tell you of her problem, is having problems beyond OpenTTD.
I'm having a few installation versions running on my server from where she starts it. After i prepped RC2 in her NAL she experienced the problem. However, when i started the same on my own computer it works fine. After i succesfully added the ECS additions, she starts it and it works. When she tries to download another download, it crashes immedialtely. So i guess that i have to restore the image on her laptop...

Thanks and sorry for the worry.

Ps. after reinstalling her laptop, i'll do a clean installation and retry it. If it still crashes, i'll let you know.

Bug reports (especially crashes) should as always go to bugs.openttd.org. Please include the crash.dmp/crash.log/crash.sav/crash.png files.

About the bugreport, my wife tried to do that but my account was not accepted as a functional account. And here I am, still posting through this account.
I told her to send an email to info @ openttd.org, knowing that this could be in vain, yet, she could not merge it.
So, the bug report was not generated by OpenTTD, but WindowsXP did show a report. That was sended with a screenshot of the situation to that e-mail adres (it was not spam, really! :) .

I'll be back if i have more info.
