A-ha, so the game's code for trams itself prevents separate buying for engines and wagons? I didn't know that.

Even better, no messing around.

EDIT:

The tracking table has been slightly modified. I've split pax and cargo tram(sets).

Also, IMPORTANT, I've started compiling the cargo's list wrt done trams. Please take a look and comment if you find anything weird.
You will also notice that we have absolutely no trams for liquid cargoes, I will see that I find some to include, I've seen some during my browsing.

And in the meantime:

Nice to see more UK trams! And Voyager, you're such a machine that Gmail has started sending the TT-Forums 'new post' emails to spam :P
Keep up the good work, can't wait for the NewGRF
IJN Takao is life. Why did the Shinano get converted? Gotta love NeuroTec for Garry's Mod. I even have a server!

Me too! :D

BTW people, I've forgotten to explain something regarding those cargoes.

E.g. coal, ore, grain... could be (and were) transported in e.g. bags...
E.g. oil, water and other liquids could be (and were) transported in e.g. barrels...
E.g. steel items, wood items... could be (and were) transported in e.g. crates...

Think a bit unorthodoxly. Trams didn't have that many transport options like train and we need to improvise a bit. As for those trams in the list, I've tried using common sense, e.g. an Express Parcels trams would carry goods and valuables but not e.g. bags of coal, even if it actually could carry them.

I suppose it was easier that way, especially for interurban freight.
Say a brewery had a tram route through a city to a big shop - why have the cost of big expensive liquid pumps on both ends when you can put it in kegs that go straight to the shelves?

You can invent trams like Road Hog is, but maybe that's not the goal? :D

You can at least have the grain trams http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vippetangen_Line

And if you search "Differential Steel Car Company Interurban" you'll find stuff.

http://www.shorelinetrolley.com/stm/upl ... 3&0156.jpg
http://donsdepot.donrossgroup.net/dr0202/sre109.jpg

Interurbans are street-running trams, there's a load of oddities there if you want realisms.
Also not a tram, but a tram really http://manxelectricrailway.co.uk/featur ... livestock/

This stuff is in Road Hog mind, so depends how overlapping you want to be ;)

Thank Andy, I'll take a serius look at your suggestions, they seem very nice. The grain tram is already in (Oslo Type S) and we already have a Manx freighter but...
andythenorth wrote:This stuff is in Road Hog mind, so depends how overlapping you want to be
This depends on how RL-based is Road Hog. We're aiming to have trams as real as possible, based on RL history. Yes, there will be tweaking here and there but some historic basis will have to exist.

And speaking of that, you've reminded me, I must check because I think I've added a brewery tram but I can't remember which one right now.

+1 do that... I do that all the things what I draw, but the judgement is left for the users/lookers how real they look! 8)

Then the overlap will be marginal. I try to be as historically accurate as possible although it's not absolutely possible due to severe lack of information on many many freight trams. Finding pictures is rather easy, stats are often not present, apart from some years.
Regardless of the overlap, I think these two sets will be nicely compatible.

Good news! The Dacia Sandero... Oh wait, this isn't Top Gear. Let's restart this...

Good news! We will now have all cargoes covered!
I've managed to find appropriate trams for all standard cargoes, including some very eluding liquid-carrying trams. In reality, these were used as street cleaning vehicles but hey... nothing is perfect, isn't it? They'll do just fine in our set!
FIRS, ECS and similar stuff will eventually be supported as well.
(unless Foo decides he's tired of us  )

So, you can check all these in our tracking table. And as always, additional suggestions are more than welcome! :D

And in the meantime, 3 new trams! In case you're wondering what's that orange cargo, well, it's a nice way to have all appropriate cargoes by recoloring them via code. Once again, all hail Foobar! :D

Trolley buses no, this is a tram set. Maybe we will consider making a separate trolleybus set but here no.

As for horse-drawn tram, I'm afraid that's another no, at least for now. There are several reasons why not but the main one is that hey would be completely useless refarding gameplay because of their extremely low speed and capacity. Still, that's a no at this moment. ;-)

Great to see some single-cargo trams and some longer trains. Is it even possible to code trollybus catenaries into OpenTTD? I know next to nothing about code, less about NML and such but can you have tram rails, and pantographs separate, like in Locomotion?

Count me in on a future trolley bus set. I've also previously talked with Foobar about a possible kerb-guided bus set as well. Of course, that set is probably going to be way smaller.

Completely useless? Strange, as that's actually the bulk of my last game, where I profited handsomely. Properly implemented and managed I've quadruped the size of my main cities by providing good service with horses in eGRVTS. The trams, though, aren't as profitable even though in real life they completely eliminated much of the omnibus carriage and cartage service in urban areas. Again, this is going to be a way smaller set since there's really only so many styles and capacities of wagons you can make, and horses didn't get significantly faster or stronger in the roughly two centuries that they reached their height of utility.

Yep, there's already a trolleybus set that replaces trams and implements its own overhead wires.

 Good to see someone else likes that Top Gear gag.

Anyway, definitely looking forward to both this and 2CC|Trains being done. I'm happy that Australia has plenty of representation in this as well. :)

Ah no! I've meant that all cargoes and cargo classes will be available trough refits, I've managed to find appropriate or approximate trams for all. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
