Re: "Pimp My Sprites" - eGRVTS
The rear wheels of the tractor of trailers don't show in build screen.
For articulated trucks it only shows one of them partially cut.
The Integrated Easiflow Tanker Truck seems to have wrong sprite for south direction.

I checked it a bit and found no obvious bugs. I plan to play a test game with FIRS but OpenGFX+ Road Vehicles has been keeping me busy

Have fun, don't quarrel too much and add as many advanced settings as you can.

Hmm, ok!LaDoncella wrote:The rear wheels of the tractor of trailers don't show in build screen.

I think that is actually the right sprite, the two components (the truck head and tank itself) might just need some tweaks in height.LaDoncella wrote:The Integrated Easiflow Tanker Truck seems to have wrong sprite for south direction.
So no real bugs then

Some of the later semi trailers have short trailers where they had long trailers in the old version 1; the Link Juno and TFB Multi. Only the very last generation semi trailer (TFB Vixen) has the long trailer. This problem is not present in the express-cargo semi trailers, ie the Edding Articulo and Locus Galahad trucks.
EDIT: Many of the articulated and semi trainers have trouble getting to full speed under full load when realistic acceleration is activated.
While I'm here, I'd like to make a request:
The trucks and buses are well balanced, with small, large, articulated and fast versions available throughout. The trams meanwhile, they just get bigger and faster as time passes. I would like the trams to be better balanced and spread throughout the eras. For example, a double decker steam tram, a three-car tram in the 1960s, a one car tram in the 2020s.
How about this: Have at least a single tram, an articulated tram and a double decker tram come out every generation. The three-car double decker trams always looked weird to me; does such a thing even exist? Double decker trams in general are rare; the only places I know of where they are used is Hong Kong and parts of the UK especially Blackpool.

All horse-drawn carriages have the same power but different running costs.
And idea: The most modern trucks and buses could have sparks as their visual effect, standing for battery or fuel cell technology.

Re: "Pimp My Sprites" - eGRVTS
I think it's because if someone decided to build a tram line, that line will have a lot of passengers, if there aren't enough to run that line profitable, it should replaced by smaller buses (buses are a lot cheaper IRL because they don't need a lot of tracks and overhead wires to run). But if Zephyris say yes to this idea, I could draw more trams.Emperor Jake wrote: The trucks and buses are well balanced, with small, large, articulated and fast versions available throughout. Cool, I'll check these.Emperor Jake wrote:Some of the later semi trailers have short trailers where they had long trailers in the old version 1; the Link Juno and TFB Multi. I will defo think about this... May need some more graphics firstEmperor Jake wrote:How about this: Have at least a single tram, an articulated tram and a double decker tram come out every generation.

Do you know if this is just the running cost in the buy menu or the actual running cost they end up with once purchased and running?oberhümer wrote:All horse-drawn carriages have the same power but different running costs.

Re: "Pimp My Sprites" - eGRVTS
you realize that, for rail vehicles, sparks are not caused by the electric engine, but by the connection between pantograph and catenary. so it doesn't make any sense for battery powered vehicles.oberhümer wrote:And idea: The most modern trucks and buses could have sparks as their visual effect, standing for battery or fuel cell technology.
Re: "Pimp My Sprites" - eGRVTS
If your battery or fuel cell vehicle emits sparks, you may want to visit your local garage

I know, but it looks nice...

Well, that seems easy enough to edit for your own personal copy of the grf. I've made many such edits myself...

Re: "Pimp My Sprites" - eGRVTS
Thanks again for the bug reports. I think those last few will be very simple to nail.
So: How should eGRVTS2 be organised? One big grf (as eGRVTS was coded), or as separate grfs for trucks, trams and buses so the player can mix and match? I have added a poll to this thread, please leave your opinion!

i'd like to have the option to only use horse-drawn vehicles, disable all newer modes of transport (to mix with country-specific sets that start ~1920)

Re: "Pimp My Sprites" - eGRVTS
tough question
It definitely makes sense to give the player an option to select bus, trucks and trams separately; I'm just not sure whether that should be done in three NewGRFs or in one NewGRF by means of parameters. Eddi's suggestion also has a certain charm.

Re: "Pimp My Sprites" - eGRVTS
Parameters to disable certain groups of vehicles seems best to me. Three separate grfs have no real benefit over parameters and will only increase the length of the grf list.

I reset the poll to include a set via parameter option... Feel free to vote again, or laugh at me for being ignorant and not thinking of parameters myself

Re: "Pimp My Sprites" - eGRVTS
For better or worse, HEQS uses parameters to turn groups of vehicles on or off.
This is the easiest route for me to maintain the grf. Choosing the most maintainable route isn't always best for end users of software, but in this case I'll live with it
