Re: Dutch Trainset v1.0 released (01-03-2009)

I remember me repainting the GTW trains in the veolia colours. I'm fine with the license proposed.

While you guys are trying to contact everyone anyways, it might be worth to see if people are willing to agree to the GPL as well. That way the set could possibly be open-sourced so that nobody has to worry about its future. Personally I agree with (and prefer) the GPL.

Hyronymus wrote:Thanks for the heads-up: it's the same and there are indeed some errors :(. The reason Szappy was credited there was because of his GRFMaker tool that Purno used. Or (looking at Purno) did Szappy code too? Singaporekid made some steam engines earlier in the set devleopment. I'm not 100% sure his steam locomotives made it to v1.0 though.
I can't remember if Szappy did some coding. There has been several people who did some coding before I started coding. I do remember that at the time I started coding, I started from scratch. Later on some other people did a bit of work on the code too, including you Hyro, but I can't remember if Szappy actually made any code which made it to the final v1.0 release (Similar to Singaporekid's steamers).

I do think Szappy should receive credit though, he helped us after all :)

We aren't trying to contact everyone as we don't know who exactly "everyone" is. The whole project took like 5 years and we don't remember every single bit of it. The proposed license is only to release the set at BaNaNaS ASAP. We picked a license that was as restrictive as possible as we don't know what every contributer prefers, but at least it allows us to release the set on BaNaNaS.

Once that's done, we could take it a step further to see if all contributors can agree with a less restrictive license. Personally all my art is already licensed as GPL. :)

You should be able to find it /somewhere/ in this topic. Try finding the posts from around 01-03-2009.

At the moment all links lead to the site with the error on it.

If someone can help with tracing the origin of the error message I would be thrilled :). If needed I can supply the php files by PM.

downloads.php tries to include the file includes/header.inc but the latter doesn't exist.

header.inc.php does exist though :s. I'll try attaching php to it. But strangely the DOS set downloads without an error...

EDIT:
no luck, I'll contact BlueEagle.

The readme that comes with the download lists a lot of names as contributors, don't know how up to date that list was 2 years ago.

A question, when do you know that you have everybody so you can change the license? Is it a possibility to create some replacement sprites if the original drawer can not be found?

Last question: I see a train with a different livery (Koploper if I identify it correctly) in your signature Hyronymus, is it possible to get that ingame (and if yes, how)?

It is a Koploper alright. How to get the different liveries? Just by enough Koplopers. After a couple of years the different liveries kick in.

Correct, it is a random livery of the "Koploper". It appears randomly upon purchasing a "Koploper".

Not fully correct though, as the randomization could also be year-dependant. :P

Is it possible to make them use cargo classes? Now they don't work with OpenGFX+ Industries. :(

Or something for an extension. I just made this, the Dutch Trainset Cargo Extension which adds extended cargo support to the Dutch Trainset.

Well. The next version sh/could include that ;-) - But of course old versions cannot be changed, so this a welcome addition :-) Thanks FooBar.

Nice. No nobody got an excuse not to play with the Dutch Trainset :>
Let those screenshots coming :)

Aye, the current Bananas version dates back from 2009. It just took us too long to upload it to Bananas. So yeah, very old version which was coded by someone with limited coding experience, and well...

Next version should certainly be more epic. :P

I never needed an excuse. It's my favourite set by far.
