Sylar's Screenshots

Post by Sylar »

Hey everyone,

I've been lurking for a while now, figured it's about time I post something.

I'm not really one for stories or realistic networks, so no point in looking for them here. Also, I'm usually playing massive cargo games until my computer starts lagging or I get bored with them, so this one is kind of an exception.

Figured I'd try to create a passenger network and here's what I have so far. If anyone has suggestions what stations might look good, please let me know, don't really know any except cargo ones.

One of the locations where a commuter line feeds the ICE line. I have ICE trains running on the north side of the map and TGV on the south side. The towns are pretty much mostly where the green area is, the only desert towns growing are the ones the get fed, so I have quite a few sort of metropolitan "islands". This is one of those.

Another commuter line showing two metro lines feeding it passengers and mail (gotta love how the 2cc train set 2.0 lets me put both mail and passengers on one metro train, the capacities are huge). You can also see I've tried to keep the metro mostly underground to allow the towns enough space to expand.

One of the few places on the map where ICE and TGV share a station. You can also see quite a few of the different types of rails that NuTracks provides (they should be all with catenary actually, but the rails look better without it IMO).(Is there a way to get NuTracks level crossings to work with TTRS roads or haven't those sprites been created?)

Continued.

The heart of the food/water distribution network. Everything gets shipped out from here by plane, train or truck. The only place on the whole map that produces water or food, gives me a clear overview of how much is being consumed. Getting the amounts just right is a bit difficult though, since having food and water stay at a distribution center for a while gives quite a big loss.

One of the distribution centers. Food and water arrives by train and gets taken to local desert towns by trucks. Apparently 20 tons of food per month is more than sufficient for a town of 50,000

Just a nice place on the map. Sort of an oasis, since there aren't any other green areas anywhere close to it. In fact, other than a few ghost towns, there isn't much of anything around there.
Twin cities.

And do you really think people will care about that sort of thing, especially since most of the n00bs do that? Attempt some REALISM or GTFO!!!

At least there wasn't maglevs-maglevs-maglevs everywhere like all of the dumb 12 year old kids playing OpenTTD loves to do, so I will give you that.

Calm down, Goldrush, people need time to come around to the benefits of realistic building. Anyway, I like your use of the Cargo Aircraft from WAS.

I don't really care much for realism, since if I wanted that I could just watch some real trains. Also, realistic tends to be ineffective (not always, but normally). I'm more into trying to see how much I can get out of a network before it starts to jam or how to transport 10-20k units in a month effectively.

If it's maglevs that you want, I think I have a cargo game that will please your eyes.

Thanks, I really love all the different liveries it has. I can send the same cargo to different locations and have a different livery for every one of those.

Because in the real world, I don't see railroad companies flocking to maglevs for every little thing. Mostly because of the cost.

And someone SHOW ME a picture of a legitimate FREIGHT maglev in the REAL WORLD! Prove to me they exist!

Goldrush, the screenshot section is open for everyone and one can post whatever one wants.

The only one here who needs to "GTFO" is you. If you don't like the screenshots, STFU and GTFO without leaving a comment. If you want realism, you know where to fint it.

I love coming on here to see the way different people play this classic game. Sometimes I try to make my networks as real as possible and sometime like Sylar I like to just try things like transport as much as possible in the quickest time, just to see if it can be done.

People should be able to post what ever screenshots of there game they like, be it mags or real networks. Sylar quite clearly stated on the first line of his first post that this thread will contain non realistic networks so anyone who don't like just don't look.

If people want to continue to discuss this realism topic can I sugest a new thread is made in a different forum and not ruin Sylar's thread with arguments.

Sylar I want to welcome you to the screenshot forum I am new on here myself keep them coming.

All nutracks graphics are placeholders and will/should be replaced.

Please excuse me for resorting to using ad hominem, but you are a grade A toss pot.

Sylar, you shots are fantastic. I've tried to build networks like that but never managed it. Please do post more.
