Ok, bit of a problem here.

I installed Locomotion on my netbook earlier this week. Today I tried installing the megapack, but the hive builder won't let me install. At the directory screen, the install button is disabled. I have not modified the path, and the path is correct for the game.

System Information

I run lomo on my aspire10" netbook fine. The packs Install fine from network and thumbdrive.
I also have several portable locomtion installs.

The installer checks your registry for game folder location path.

It then checks the game folder for locomotin game files and any upgrade information about other installed packs.

It does that to make sure you hive / installs are performed in the correct order. assuring that you have the lastest version/ patches.

If out have to, you can locate the folders manually (for portable locomotion). You can't install it to a random folder for quality control reasons.

Acer Aspire One 10"
3G Internet
500gb 7200 rpm hdd
2 gigs ram
Atom 270
XP Pro SP3/Win 7 build 2022 dual boot

Locomotion runs fine on my netbook too. I know it's not the registry, the game dir key is fine, pointing to C:\Program Files\Chris Sawyer\Locomotion as it should. All game files are where they should be, From 1.dat to Locomotion.exe. I haven't installed any sets or modifications, it's a virgin install still. And we both know it isn't hardware related, as there isn't any critical difference between my ZG5 and your Aspire One.

i have a acer aspire 4135 works fine. it probly won't effect it but i make all my dats no breakdown no obsolete.

It has to be your path. You can't be the first person in 3000+ to have an epic fail.

remember, don't direct it to your objdata folder. but, the root of locomotion.

PS. there is no "locomotion.exe" ...

PS. there is no "locomotion.exe" ...

There is on my install. It's exactly as it was created by the installer, except for the backup objData.

And I haven't been pointing to to the objData or elsewhere. I know it's supposed to point to just \Locomotion.

every locomotion cd i have installs loco.exe.
what cd do you have?

Well, I bought it at retail in the fall of 2005, US English version, non patched, came in the normal box with the CD & Manual case inside. I can't think of any more than that.

So, if I temporarily rename it to Loco.exe, the MegaPack installer should work?

I am still curious about your CD because you are the first person to have this issue. none of my packs since day one would have installed if that was the case.

Anyway, Plastikman, I read somewhere you used scans of HO scale models to do some of your graphics?

I have a bunch of unused 1930s vintage Comet Models paper car sides that would be a breeze to scan in. I have Pluto Water billboard reefer, Baby Ruth Candy billboard reefer, and a GTW paper 40' outside braced wood automobile boxcar side set. Interested in any scans of stuff like this.

Even the assembled cars might be of use, as the embossed sides would likely show some minor shadowing where there is depth. Got all sorts of prewar HO stuff I could put on a scanner...

Again, could any of this be used in your Lomo sets?

I know you did a new UP F7A, but the old one is still being installed, while the new B is installed. this is from fresh installs, better sure i didn't screw up, but you never know.

I just reinstalled lomo, the 1.0.0., the 1.0.2 update and the 1.0.3 patcher.

I got the UP f7a.

I would recomend trying the patcher again. it is does NOT download it, You already have it the hive. then run the web installer manuall and you will get the f7 in your objdata....


I know you had a bit of a unique crash when you ran your mini patcher. I bet that is why you're missing that file.
