?? I have Lego bricks that are definitely older than that? The oldest being three 2x4 bricks that the original owner bought from the Lego factory in 1948...

Ahhh, now I understand - the Lego brick 'as it looks today' was created 1958...

But that was another kind of plastic (cellulose acetate) so in fact, "the Lego brick, as it looks today" was created around 1963...

But wait, Lego have changed the color formulas a number of times during the years, so in fact "the Lego brick, as it looks today" isn't more than about ten years old...

Anyway, Happy Birthday (or whatever) Lego!

thats why you need to keep it simple :) release some, i.e the terrain, and then slowy let people add on it :) atm it seems like it may never been done, which would be very sad, as its very nice.

I would advise making a 8bpp GRF version to build interest - many people don't know how to use the 32bpp graphics. Conversion to 8bpp would be easy, the sprites barely use the alpha channel and colour conversion would be simple due to the pixel art style...

I was bored so I made ( from existing tiles ) additional coasts from openttd(w/d).grf. Two still are missing but I don't know how to redo it.

Actually, since it's a hobby project done in spare time, it's common to not being able to finish things we once started back when we had more spare time.

No no the ball isnt in my court. People should really start thinking more about project instead of just going ahead and not finishing them, something most of us learn like kids. Also the keep it simple stupid advise.

If i had started this, i would have finished it.

To be fair, it is a massive ammount of work to finish this project, and Im sure any help offered would be gladly appreciated. The big projects only ever really get done as a community effort.

This project is not finished, nor is it dead, and if you are interested in it then get involved, and dont be rude. Th ball is indeed in your court if you want it so badly.

This project is not dead, I'm looking on how to find a simple way to draw things, which allow me to draw the sprites and then apply modifications easily, like changing colors, adding textures, modify shapes... I'm stuck at the rough/rocky land since is a massive redraw of all the terrain tiles, only to add some misplaced brick pieces

I already tried with mlcad and wings3D, but none of them are simple, ok, mlcad is it, but the povray model made with ldview doesn't convince me
So the next try is GraphicsGale (the tool I used to start) and a lot of layers for each tile, so I'll can add things in front of or behind other things very easily, already tested with some other pixart tryouts
I've also thought about making a tool by myself, but this will prolong the times a lot

This project is quite different from the "standard" project you can see around, like the 8bpp new graphics project, there are more people which work on the same project doing different parts... here I'm alone, but some grateful work from other two people which helped me to have at least the railway and some infrastructure, don't forget I draw 4 stages of terrain, the roads and I'm going to draw other 2 stages of terrain

So many thanks for the interest, but please wait :)

Did you try BlockCAD (see sig)? It's the simplest of all the Lego CAD-systems. You can do one-click renderings with POVRay, using either the L3P-generated parts, or Lutz Uhlmann's parts with more facets etc..

Edit: Fixed the lightning a bit in the BlockCAD image.
