[Re-Release] NEW! US ATSF Super Chief V2.0 4/17/06

Post by Plastikman »

EDIT: This set is obsolete, It is now part of the Pre-Amtrak pack that can be found inside the Megapack.

Edit:
UPDATE! April 17, 2006

ReRelease of this pack in the new style of conversions. this pack also includes the unreleased cars and liveries that i always said I would release oneday. that day is here.

this pack is more of a beta for the next set of passenger trains that will be comming out soon. you are all invited to open beta this set. input is desired on this new set. please let me know how it looks, how it drives also the new cargo amounts.

I know the cars are spaced a bit tight together, this was to allow the full train to fit in a station. the other option is to go back and shorten the cars a bit more.

/end edit:

people have been asking for some of my US stuff, well.... Here is a fine example of US History, The Super Chief. This is the EMD FP7 version of the Chief that could get to about 102 MPH

The real Chief had several sleeper cars and diners also. due to limited station size, i only added the mail and coaches and observation cars. If people want them, I'll add them. also due to limited station sizes, the cars carry about double what the should.

Since this is my first release there might be some bugs i missed let me know so we can fix them right up.

I set the cars so anything can pull them, the engines are configured to only work with the set. the engines have the wrong gearing for freight, those only do about 65mph. the reliability is on the crappy side(80 I wanted to go even lower but ugh where are the repair shops?), welcome to the world of F units. the set was desingnd to have 2 or 3 locos pulling it so when one breaks down the others pull the cripple (realistic).

Name: ATSF Super Chief
Speed: 102 MPH.
Rel: 80%
Weight: 511 total
Design Year: 1949
Obsolete Year: 1971
Capacity and type of cargo: 60 bags of mail or 80 passengers.

Edit: I Updated the set to include the RPO.

The first pic in your post is brilliant. where was that taken?

As for the carriages please release them. with either double capacity to real life or realistic as they would go great in this game.

Also with the Pacfic in the screen shot u posted is that another of your creations? If not where did you get it?

The Picture is "AT&SF #19L comes to rest after it has crashed through a barrier at the LAUPT in 1948." i thought i had the caption on the pic.

the pacific is from the game, the makido is mine. still a WIP right now.

there are carrages in with the Super chief. just not the sleepers and dinners. it took forever to decide on a length for the carriages they are shrunk down to 3/4 actual length. she was one long train, sometimes up to 29 cars long. lol she even had a barber onboard, something about scissors and a moving train frighten me personally.

lol I also just noticed i put he baggage cars in the rar not the RPO's. oop's oh well same stats. just slightly differant look. ill have to fix that.

I think the other models are WIPs right now, they'll be released when they're ready.

Nice train! I can't wait to try out the rest of the trains. :D

Would you be able to make a version with no reliability?

You could probably do that with loco tool.

Ok so I was sitting bored at work today, I decided to rework the Super Chief Set. I ran into 2 headaches;

First; I found out there is a limit to how many "Compatable with" You can have (8 i think).that made a huge set a pain in the ass.

Second; Once i added the baggage car, RPO, Sleeper, Diner, Coach, Lounge, and Observation it didnt fit into a 16 tile station i was about 5 pixels off. sooooo i went back and sucked a pixel off every car.

I am not sure if anyone wants the new "super sized" set or not. I wanted to just make it an add on, but with the messed up compatables and shorter cars it would have to be a re-release. and i have still not converted the glass top observation car, i would have to scrap another car.

btw has anyone noticed when you are on the "dark side" of the train, it looks like the windows are lit up?

Don't worry to much of the length for the total train.
Stations 3 wide and 23 platforms long are easy to make. :D
