[REQUEST] CN Mega Mod

I am looking for a large mod all about CN. Stations, signals, extra (pointless) building, trains, trains, more trains. Can any one do this? I dont know enough and are to young to do this myself. If anyone can do this I would be so happy! :D But is not I understand, take your time too. :) Tell me anything you need to know, if you can help, I want to make it easy.

Well I could make the models but i would need someone to make textures. :wink:

attually if i told you how to do some of the things, would you be interested in doing them yourself? Just because this is a big project for one person.

And as far as trains, most of them are in plastikmans kits.

I would actualy love to learn! I am only 13 so please make it detailed, not easy though because I am very smart and a fast learner. Plus I don't expect to have one person do this.

Ok well first your going to need either sketchup, blender, or 3dsm. These are tools that will make the 3d model. Then there come texturing which I'm still working on. But thats all I have time to tell you.

Maya = $3495 US

MudBox 2010 = $745 US

ZBrush 3.5 $595 US

Topogun = $100 US

Lightwave = $(Well I don't know the exact, as price changes per store, and I haven't seen a price list for it)

3D Studio Max =$3495

PhotoShop = $999 US

As you can see they do become quite pricey; as most of us I'm guessing don't do graphics as a course, and so we don't get the discounts, I've listed the full/cheapest prices, and the links to official sites.

So here is a list of software we use right now, and their free, that's right free. You just need to have the free time to play with them.

You forgot that there are Free versions of Cinema 4D out there besides Blender... some people use Gmax with MSTS plugin, While it is nice you cant render it and have to import like an MSTS item.
You don't need the latest and greatest versions of everything. Lego is using something ridiculously old like Max 3 or 5.

There is also Gimp for the free photoshop replacement.

How I make a model:
3DS Max &Photoshop> Fusion (optional) > Lomo
Can be interchanged with..
Any 3D software that supports rendering and any imaging software > Lomo
Altho I do make buildings in SketchUp since it rocks for that.

How I do MSTS conversion:
MSTS>A Custom OCX Manipulator & Custom scripts> Fusion> Lomo
Usually I need to do some skin tweaks with TGATool2a and Photoshop.

I'll help you out in making the 3d models. But as of right now thats all I really know how to do. I'm still figuring out how to make the sprites. :wink:

I have received no less then 6 different people in the last week asking me to render their sketch up stuff. I'm sorry but i have no time. it takes forever to do each one and I my dev box is still DOA.

Sketchup is really easy to use. :?
3Dmax on the other hand, takes some time to familiar with. With these programs, you learn mostly by trial and error, so don't give up and don't expect your first model to be a masterpiece.

The other problem with 3dsm is that it is a 4000 dollar program. Unfotunatly I work at a fastfood joint and I don't have that as pocket change. and the last time i used a torrent, well...

Sketchup on the otherhand is free and very easy to learn how to use.

One thing to note though, is that if you attend an approved educational institution (and I guess have an email address with a .edu in there) you can download 3dsmax (and any autodesk product for that matter) for free on a 13 month licence. Not bad, eh? http://students.autodesk.com/
