Access Violation 00449175 Error

Post by Cpuwhiz11 »

OK so I just got Locomotion and installed it, then patched it to the latest v1.76 patch. When I run it, the game starts up fine and I can use the menus and such, but once I get in game within a matter of minutes or so I get an "Access Violation 00449175 Error Location Unknown" Error. This error does not occur at a specific time or because I do a specific action it just happens randomly shortly after starting a scenario. I searched these forums to see if anyone else had the same problem and noticed a few did. I make this post because 1. they did not have the same error number as I have and 2. none of the problems were ever conclusively solved (if I missed a thread where it was solved then I am sorry for my poor searching). Now I am running Locomotion on a pretty standard Windows XP + SP3 system. I have never had this problem before with any of the other games I play.

In order to fix the problem I have tried:
1. Rebooting
2. Uninstalling then reinstalling Locomotion
3. Running Locomotion in compatibility mode
All to no avail.

If anyone had any thoughts or help it would be greatly appreciated.

try deleting all but bolder breakers, that is the only scenario you "need" because it hosts the tutorials.

No good, same error (actually the number changed to 00449173 although I don't think it matters). Although I did leave that landscapes folder in the Scenarios folder, should I have deleted that as well. Other than that I deleted all the scenarios except Boulder Breakers.

This is strange, do you have any programs like emulators or system management tools that could affect the game?
I honestly don't know here, the only thing I can think of right now is a format and OS reboot.

drivers are my guess.

PC specs are better then needed for lomo.

i would guess audio

I would get the latest geforce video drivers and try audio driver from the vendor or nvidia

if thats not it, check what programs are running in the background
North American sets and then some...
US SET Ver 3.1.0 updated ~ Amtrak Pack 3.1.0 ~ US Passenger/Metro Set 3.1.0 updated~ Auto Factory 2.6 ~ VIA Rail Pack ~ LTD ED1 Conrail Alcos ~ LTD ED2 NJ Transit ~ DBR E60 ~ TGV Duplex ~ Umbrella Corp. ~ Comboios de Portugal~ Dekosoft UP/BN/BNSF Sets ~ ICE // MegaPack = 1.0.3.

format and OS reboot.
I am not willing to go that far, I will just play Transport Tycoon Deluxe instead
o you have any programs like emulators or system management tools that could affect the game?
Not that I can think of, peer guardian 2 has been know to affect games that "phone home" although I don't think Locomotion does that. It could be AVG (my anti-virus), I will have to test that. It may be reacting poorly to my installed copy of Daemon tools, but thats just supposition on my part.

Just to set the record straight, no I did not pirate this game, yes there is no way I can prove this to anyone I am just saying it.

In other news thank you very much rdrdrdrd for being very helpful so far evn though we haven't nailed the problem yet.

I will try this when I get the chance. I am not a big fan of updating my drivers as last time I did it my system became a little unstable, thus I will save this as a last resort.

chances are, you picked up some generic driver update from microsoft update (those usually suck pretty bad) and did not realise it. or have some windows xp default driver for anything from the built in sound card to a motherboard driver. applying the vendor updated ones (mobo and built in sound) should correct this, possibly giving your entire system a performance boost.

for video drivers, GeForce Release 181 WHQL is the latest for that card.

Newer drivers should do the opposite of making your system unstable. if you're worried about that, set a system restore point...

I have almost a clone of that pc (my lomo test pc) and it runs lomo like a champ.

Thanks for the advice, I will definitely do a system update of all my drivers when I get the chance and report back the results.
