What about the standard stations of the SS? There are quite a lot still standing, and some important stations like Leeuwarden and Alkmaar.
As for the modern times, there are also quite a few stations of Randstadspoor, and more are under construction. That would be a very nice addition too.

You're posting nice examples. I say, draw them.

Amsterdam CS, Den Haag HS and CS and OLD Rotterdam CS Are very cool buildings.
But, first stations like the standardized "SS station 1e - 5e klasse"
And the more modern Type "Douma" and "Sextant"

Just a overview of different station types:

I think old platforms are a must first.

As for Station Buildings, since they involve a lot of artwork (more than your average platform tile), I'll let the artist to pick up any building he wants to draw. There's plenty of styles and plenty of examples. I don't think we need a specific one. (Den Haag HS and Groningen are beautiful examples, but are they really a useful addition to Amsterdam Centraal we've already got?).

If someone decides to draw a building, I can't imagine FooBar isn't willing to code it :P
jor[D]1 wrote:If we continue in the Dutch railway furniture topic maybe it's better to lock this one.
No, both are completely different stuff. The Dutch Railway furniture set won't include stations, it includes signals, catenary and a level crossing and some more typically Dutch stuff. The thing with stations is that even people from another countries use them. Combining them would force people to use the Dutch signals and catenary just to get the Dutch Stations, or at least make it harder for them to figure out their parameters.

In my games, I often play with German, Japanese and British stations, but I'm not interested in German, Japanese or British signals and stuff. Different station sets can be combined in one game, but you can only have one set of signals and catenary enabled.

Also, the stations can be drawn now, but not yet coded. The furniture is drawn (mostly) and can be coded into a set. Best to keep those separate, certainly in this stage of development.

Just a thought about the rail furniture: It's probably well worth to make this a set which can work as static NewGRF (only sprite replacement). Then it can be used with every game, also when you play online on servers...

And... why does it get level crossings? Either they would glitch with one or the other base set or they'll be overridden by the railtype NewGRF(s).

Well, not entire level crossings. We just want to replace the crossing lights with simple ActionA. This should be fine with no track set loaded, and indeed will be overridden with a track set, but that's a loss we'll take.

The suggestion to keep this static-compatible is good. Yet another reason to not include stations in this ;)

Isn't that a silly loss to take, considering the Dutch Trainset will include metros and thus does need a track set?

Not really. There are metro track sets that do not touch the original tracks. So you'd still have the Dutch crossings there. Only with a track set that changes the graphics of the original tracks these crossings will be overridden. So IMO it's still worth to add.

Ah, so we'd recommend players to play the Dutch Trainset with this Metro Track Set?

Shame those level crossings can't be placed over road and rails in a way similar to Catenary, but well, it's only a minor detail eye-candy.

We're not recommending anything ;)

It's just that if you use a track set that replaces the normal rails, then this track set must provide the crossings and we cannot do that for you from the furniture set. In the end I still think there will be a Dutch track set at some point, that will include these crossings as well. As that's on my list if nobody else makes it first.

I believe jor[D]1 wanted to give it a shot. I PM-ed him about it a week ago, since we both showed interest in coding a track set in the trainset topic and I don't want to get in anybodies way or have work done double and he said he wanted to give it a go first. So maybe check with him before you start on anything.

Hi guys! Although I'm not an active member of this forum, I'm following the Dutch GRF-set topics on a daily base. I couldn't resist adding my suggestions to this topic. ;)

Station interior:
- Digital CTA's (complete station information, single platform information)
- Departure signals (Vertreksein) (example (LED-version))
- OV-chipcard check-in/-out poles (example)
- NS ticket machine (example)

Stations:
- Arnhem (pictures)
- Groningen Europapark (example)

Other:
- Dutch Railroad Crossing (example)
- Catenary for double tracks (example)

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, let me go through your suggestions;

Digital CTAs: ok, but only a minor detail
Vertreksein: I don't know if we can make the light actually operation, if not, I prefer to skip it
OV-Chipcard poles: yep (pretty pink)
Ticket Machine: don't know how we could forget those, silly us.

Arnhem / Groningen Europapark: as with all station buildings, there's a lot of similar looking ones, I'll let the artist decide which one he wants to draw.

Railroad Crossing: I actually had in mind to have two different ones, if possible (coders? possible?), the AKI and the AHOB, either depending on time or on track type (AKI for unelectrified track perhaps?)
Catenary for double track: Last time I heard about this, there was no code to support this.

I started work on Breda Prinsenbeek, but the graphics don't come out as good as I hoped. Drawing buildings isn't my strongest point...

Nice building, it is not only used in breda.
It is part of the "type voorstadshaltes" design

I wouldn't say it's bad, just needs to be half the size or even slightly less.

Hi everybody,
Have to say that I really LOVE this set. It is on my list of "must use" NewGFRs and I really appreciate all your work.

Just noticed a small bug/alignment issue though. Just mentioning in case you want to fix it.

When building 2x4 platforms next to each other that contain light poles then the middle lightpoles are twice as thick as the other ones. Maybe it is visible on my screenshot.

In case it shoulld make a difference I do not play "vanilla" OTTD but the Cargodist version g6c6dacea-cd. But as you can see in second screenshot made with OTTD 1.2.0-RC1 the same problem occurs there.

Please keep up the amazing work guys!!!

PS: Forgot to mention the version of Dutch Stations I am using. It was the latest one I could find but the in game info is only very limited as you can see in third attachment.

Everybody can contribute to OTTD! It does not require you to be an IT specialist or designer. And it does not take days or weeks of your time either.
There are many simple yet important tasks like translations, investigating facts and details and many other that need work and if you help a bit then the experienced developers can focus more on making OTTD even more awesome!
OTTD = Awesomeness created by a whole lot of volunteers, be one of them if you like the game!

Hmmm, perhaps the building itself should be smaller, but the roof shouldn't. Picture show the roof has the full width of the platform, which is 20 pixels diagonally (10x2), if I measured it correctly.

Thanks, this bug has been there for long, I guess nobody took the effort of fixing it, because it would mean we'd have to adjust all the sprites.
The platform lights where meant to overlap each other's poles to automatically form a 'double' light when placing two platforms next to each other. But the poles are a pixel off ;(

Don't you think that is best combined with the rail furniture set, so it becomes the Dutch Rail Track & Rail Furniture set?
