tried to set up a new game with some recently downloaded newgrfs and got this:

newgrf list.png

is there a way around this, without having to choose which newgrfs to get rid of?

Hi qcm, I've got this error many times and, as I know, there isn't a solution if you play on normal openttd. On patchpacks, you can use more than 64 grfs but if there are too many grfs, the names of the vehicles and objects of the last loaded grfs will disappear.

Otherwise, cool screenshots man !

do you have any patchpack to recommend? because I don't know why but I tried to start a game with 61 NewGRFs and the error still appeared. weird.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words, and your screenshots are pretty nice too!

This is a collage of all the vehicles I can use in my current NewGRF setup. Shows how organized I am ^^
By the way, I know I don't have a lot of maglev trains. I have yet to find a good maglev newgrf, plus I don't use maglev as much as other rail types.

I've tested all the major patchpacks and currently i play with chill's patchpack because it is the only patchpack that have day lenght production change and chunnels. The problem of this PP is version : you cannot load some recent grfs and you can't use game scripts.
I use also the Spring Patch Pack like kamnet. But if the creator of SpringPP changes the daylenght patch to a patch like the one of YAPP, where the production of industries is multiplied by the daylenght, I think I will play it more often
The Yet Another Patchpack is good too, with patches like cargodests and timetablr separation. The only problem is the departure boards don't show the correct hours of arrivals and departures.

Thanks everyone for your input. Unfortunately, most patches have too much features that I don't want. What would be perfect is a patch for tunnel/bridge signals and a city growth limiter only.

Anyways, I have recently upgraded to OTTD 1.4.0 from 1.2.3, which was the latest release when I started playing and I never upgraded. Needless to say I enjoy it very much. I still have a 58 NewGRF limit though :(

Compiling and modifying the OpenTTD source code yourself just for the NewGRF limit is quite easy. It's literally two lines in the code that you change the value of. Patch is located here: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=894743#p894743 You don't even have to go through the work of applying a patch properly, just open the file in the text reader, then open the two files you have to modify and edit those lines manually.

What if I used an installer and did not compile the game myself?

The only way to apply a patch is to compile a version yourself.

Hey everyone! I'm starting a big new game with many new NewGRFs, so expect a lot of screenshots in the near future. Here is a little story about this new exciting transport company:

TRANSCO was founded in 1992 in the city of Aspington, New Quebec by billionnaire businessman J. P. Noyer. The main goals of this new company is to provide quality transport of passengers, goods and industrial ressources accross the main island. Receiving a government subsidy in 2000, TRANSCO is now one of the most important transport company in New Quebec.

Here, you can see the northmost part of Aspington, with the Gerry-Boulet Memorial Park, the Aspington Industrial Park, the streetcar network and the Mulroney electric train station, dividing the city in the north and south halves.

This is Soyotan, a suburb city at west of Aspington. Its economic activities rely on Maglev manufacturing and office supplies. It's actually home to the headquarters of the biggest office supply shop chain, Officiency.
