Seriously? 21th century, web 2.0, and server cost is a problem?
You can have professional website for free, in Google or a thousand of other options. Maximum you will do is pay 9,99 USD per YEAR to maintain the domain like amitrains.com.
Free space, huge brandwith. Server cost is not an excuse anymore a long time ago.

Are you serious?

If you want to host some pictures. yeah sure. if you don't mine waiting for uber slow downloads or linking to mega-upload..

Even Googles Premier level hosting maxes out at 10MB file sizes and is pretty expensive. puss you have a gay prepackaged front end and not a "server".

the packs on AMI are from 20-200MB in size and growing.

Go price out a real web host or a co-loc and buy clue..

you want to argue this. go over here http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=53656

I won't argue about that, since Im not the one managing the website, so I have no idea about the needs.
But I still think there are several solutions.
Its not a gay front end, its completely customized. And easy to customize. Can be anything. What is not flexible is the menu, thats all.
About the file size, at the top of my mind, you can use Skydrive, that have 5Gb and 50Mb of size limit. Might not be the perfect solution, but better than close the website. A 200Mb file can be divided. Again, not perfect but better than nothing.
Or a paid hosting file server, that will charge you 50USD per year and allow you unlimited space.
Web hosting service are expensive because they allow you several things such as PHP, database capabilities like SQL, etc, most things people dont use and are paying for. And they even want to charge by bandwidth use, which is absurd.

It is extremely valid to ask for donations, and definitely deserved, but for your work, not greedy hosting services.

Anyway, going offtopic now, so I shut up.

Ok.

Look at it this way. TT-forums and AMI share a dedicated server. these are the only 2 websites on the server to my knowledge. They split the bill. What AMI picks up in cost. TT-F does not have to pay. You use both servers. nuff said.

I haven't really been thinking about it, but what is the purpose of the flashing rear end device?

Lets say it this way with a famous book/film title:
For your eyes only..

Oké, with about "3 pixels" in size it is hard to see. But if you look very hard you see the little red dot flashing on and off.

Flashing Rear-End Device = FRED
FRED pics: Click here
FRED on wiki

p.s. thought that there where some FRED´s wich have sound in them, so not only for your eyes but also for your ears.

Hi,

I downloaded the Mega-pack and I really like it! :D

I'm from Canada and I only want canadian trains (CN/CP/VIA) in my scenarios;

is it possible to find a list of canadian locos and rolling stocks somewhere?

I dont want to miss something in the editor!

Thank you!

Hi,

I identified some canadian stuff... Passengers CN, CP and VIA were easy... :)

But I cant find more than that because of the files name... :?

Someone can help me? :|

A canadian pack could be nice... or grouping things by companies in the mega pack. :)

Ex:
CN - F3A
CN - F3B
...
CN - Boxcar
etc...

My opinion,

Thank you,

I know that...

It was an just an example of how things should be named for the editor.

Now, it's dificult to find everything for a company; pack is huge and we have to search a lot.

Take VIA pack for example:

everything is begining with VIA (VIA F7,VIA coach, VIA LRC...); you can find everything together.

Thank you!

It's a great idea ..... BUT... renaming all the Canadian equip would lend the same idea to others wanting each railroad grouped etc etc and would take a great deal of time away from the modders leaving less time to create more.... most are grouped by type of equipment which is helpful. Just my opinion tho.

I understand...

Usually I (I'm sure I'm not alone) play with 1 company (CN/CP), maybe 2 (CN/CP + VIA) for 100 years. :D

That's why I say grouped loco and rolling stock by railroad could be better than by type.

Anyways, It's just my opinion... a sugestion!

Thank you

Then mod them yourself.

You can also use search on this page to find what you want. http://plastikman.pytalhost.com/Everything.html

I'm not sure how up to date it is.

its not up to date :(

Last friday i wanted to search some DAT files and specifik in wich pack they could be found but it says "Unknown" or "not yet in database."
And there are some files in that list that are allready 2 years "on the market".

For example:
USAFC351.dat (flatbed + tractors) The pack is called CLW ??? & not yet in database.
DKCFC891.dat (DK TTX Goods TOFC FC89 2x CSX (Dekosoft)) unknown pack & not yet in database.

Maybe Plastikman will fix this in the feature but he is a busy man.
