Re: [OTTD] UKRS2 - Public Alpha (pa 0.5) 15/08/10
Spotted a slight problem on the wiki, I'm not sure how this is supposed to be, looking under the sprinter page it says that the sprinter can only haul standard carriages, however looking under the passenger cars page under detailed notes 4 it suggests that the sprinter hauls High-Speed Carriages.
Re: [OTTD] UKRS2 - Public Alpha (pa 0.5) 15/08/10
Pikkabird, I love your new version of the set. I've actually been playing a game with your alpha release. The addition of 3th rail vehicles works wonderful, the buildup of different EMU's works perfectly and you can see that 3th rail works best in the early years of the set. While later on you see that diesels and OHLE sets are becoming better and better. The only slight downside is that there is no 'real' development going on anymore after the BREL EMU is released.
In fact later on (when the OHLE network starts developing) I really miss a unit that can run on both networks. Wouldn't it be something to include a dual voltage EMU for the 90sh or so? For me it would enhance the possibilities of 3th rail networks beyond the 80sh.

A dual voltage EMU has been submitted to the addon set, see this page: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... 6&start=40
Re: [OTTD] UKRS2 - Public Alpha (pa 0.5) 15/08/10
There's always the Class 319 (we have the 325, which is a mail carrier based on the 319 but has the newer Networker cabs, as on the 465) which would be my suggestion for a Dual Power EMU - mind you, I did used to take one to school every day until Thameslink was removed from the Sevenoaks line... And replaced with 465s...
I'm still frustrated by not being able to have dual power rails - I can't run 3rd rail and OHLE into the same station without doing strange things like splitting the station's railtypes... I don't know if this is a bug in the UKRS2 or the UKRS Rails... I did mention this before, but I haven't seen any progress on this one.

The Metro Track Set provides 3rd rail and 3rd rail with catenary. I'm just not sure if rail type definitions match what UKRS rail provides, but that's easy to try out.

I have a small problem right now, theres no modern grain hopper to transport grain\wheat at higher speeds (55MPH vs 70MPH) Will there be a modern grain hopper or is that it for grain hoppers?

There are two later grain hoppers yet to come.
Re: [OTTD] UKRS2 - Public Alpha (pa 0.5) 15/08/10
3rd rail works for sure with UKRS2, but I don't think UKRS2 ever defines an engine for the 3RDC (3rd rail with catenary) tracks, so that might remain unavailable. You can force-activate 3RDC by setting the debug parameter of Metro Track Set. This will move one of the original steam engines to 3RDC, so you'll have that available around 1930-ish. Metro Track Set allows all normal, electrified and 3rd rail vehicles on 3RDC, so that will work fine with UKRS2 as well.Michi_cc wrote:The Metro Track Set provides 3rd rail and 3rd rail with catenary. On this subject: I'm in need of a modern (around 2000-ish) wagon that can transport livestock. Currently my station is overflowing with livestock, but there's nothing available that can transport it. It would be appreciated if something could be added to the next public alpha. Thanks!PikkaBird wrote:There are two later grain hoppers yet to come.

That may be so, but FooBar does

Re: [OTTD] UKRS2 - Public Alpha (pa 0.5) 15/08/10
There is a (fictitious, since as Andy says there's no livestock by rail any more) later stock car coming too. But it would be more realistic - and possibly even more efficient - to transport by road anyway.
As for dual rail and 3rd rail vehicles, I agree that dual rail would be nice as soon as both 3rd rail and OHLE has been introduced, and I think (and we've discussed this elsewhere) the current requirement for a dual-power vehicle is bad implementation in the area of new railtypes. An additional 3rd Rail unit between the BREL and the Electrostar is still a possibility, nothing's finalised yet.

I haven't coded the Sprinters yet so I didn't pick that up, so thanks.lawton27 wrote:Spotted a slight problem on the wiki

I somehow doubt that... I currently have 14 12-tile trains and that's probably not even half the amount I need. Using trucks would mean a LOT of trucks on this particular route. Good to hear though that there you'll add a car for later years. I don't use UKRS(2) for realism per se, but more because it's generally a very nice set to play with.PikkaBird wrote:There is a (fictitious, since as Andy says there's no livestock by rail any more) later stock car coming too. Agreed, there really needs to be an availability callback of some sorts.PikkaBird wrote:...I think (and we've discussed this elsewhere) the current requirement for a dual-power vehicle is bad implementation in the area of new railtypes...

Good to hear there is still a chance for an extra 3th rail vehicle. We'll just have to wait till you have played a good game of UKRS2, so you can see there is a missing train for yourselfPikkaBird wrote: As for dual rail and 3rd rail vehicles, I agree that dual rail would be nice as soon as both 3rd rail and OHLE has been introduced, and I think (and we've discussed this elsewhere) the current requirement for a dual-power vehicle is bad implementation in the area of new railtypes. Regarding the lack of dual powered track.. yes something is not working there now, it should be available as soon as both 3th rail and OHLE vehicles can be chosen. I believe this topic was also discussed in the suggestions forum. I thought the devs would take a look at a possible solution?
Re: [OTTD] UKRS2 - Public Alpha (pa 0.5) 15/08/10
I could not find a parameter that stops the trains from shunting. Now, randomly reversed engines at the front of my train does not look good to me. Is there a parameter to stop shunting?

My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)

Simple, dont use shutersChrill wrote:I could not find a parameter that stops the trains from shunting. Now, randomly reversed engines at the front of my train does not look good to me. Is there a parameter to stop shunting?

The "shunting" from UKRS, where the loco and brakevan swap sprites, doesn't happen in UKRS2. If you're talking about the tank locomotives driving bunker-first, perhaps it's just something you need to get used to?
Of course, the reversing isn't "random", it happens when the train switches direction, so you can avoid it by using roro stations rather than dead end terminuses.

I am using the 2-6-4 Suburban, picture added below for reference
This kind of reversing should be avoided, right? It happens 100% of the time with this train

Re: [OTTD] UKRS2 - Public Alpha (pa 0.5) 15/08/10
Right, they're supposed to do that if they reverse at the end of the line. It's completely realistic for that kind of tank engine to run in reverse (indeed, it's the reason why they used tank engines in the first place!).Chrill wrote:I am using the 2-6-4 Suburban, picture added below for referenceThis kind of reversing should be avoided, right?
