What a great idea! Don't forget the new MPI units also.

You have all the info. Maybe you can make a set?

Here are some images. They are 1:87 scale models but are 99.9% accurate.

If more images are needed, I can get some more.

Well, I am unable to make anything at the moment. I have not been able to use my 3-D modeling software (gMax) on this computer, and my other computer is down. I'll try to get a new code (my old one wont work, says it's outdated). Plus I've been unsecuessful with locotool compiling the .dat's.

Also are the MPI MP36PH-3C's in service yet? I've haven't seen them at all.

[edit] I'm waiting for the e-mail from turbosquid now.

You will be waiting a long time.

they don't support gmax anymore and no longer give out serial numbers to install.

While you are waiting for that email. try putting metrolink into the search option up top. you might find what You are looking for.

You will have to find a GMax registry hack via google.

Yeah, some US stuff might be nice around here.

What! They don't give codes for gmax anymore? What about their custmers that registered 2 years ago (like me) or more. Plus why do they still have the download link there and active? That is kinda "silly", eh? So I'll have to get my other computer running to use gmax.

I recall reading somewhere that someone created the coaches and the F59PH already, but I don't rember where(I can bearly remember my passwords and usernames  )

Alredy tried that once, I found a bunch of youtube videos and a MSTS model (but not of the best qualitiy).

[edit] Briliant idea: If I use the installer from my other computer, I might be able to use my old gmax code. :D

[edit] Even better idea: Copy all files form other computer.

Plastikman's US set has the F59PH.

3DTrains has made Metrolink F59PHi's and coaches with the ill-fated Surfliner route, but I don't know how Marc would feel about that stuff being used.

Oh wait a second. You are right! I have Metrolink F59PHi shells sitting in a folder here that are dated back to February. I thought those were MPI units in this folder. did they get released?

Those are from the ill fated Surfliner Route. I have talked to Marc about these units. I don't have the Bi-levels though.

Somewhere I made this unit for LoMo and I can not find it for the life of me. I made it as a joke the the day the photos of it in the delivery yard started surfacing on the web. It is the KLW Metra unit repainted For Metrolink. I know I never released it because I was going to ask Kurt what he wanted to do with it. I might have lost it in my HD crash.

Oh, how funny, all that time it was right under my nose. I must have overlooked it looking through all 1000 vehicles in the game. I'll look right now.

No, they didn't. I jut checked and all that was there was...
  • F59PH in the old paint scheme (1992)
Bombardier Bi-Level coach & cab coach
The coaches looked just like the ones I found for MSTS, though they seem slightly taller than what I think they should be (a minimal defference).
Also the appearance of the cars could be improved...

By the way, where did you get the MPI MP36PH-3C?

As i recall, The Metrolink Bi-levels were made in GMax from some old low quality photos of an HO model. similar to your photos up top. the measurements came off the HO model, not actual plans.. I think the cab end is the Surfliner cab, not a metrolink (it has been a year since those were assembled).

The GO Bi-levels were rebuilt in MAX and a little better proportion. The plan was to re-release the Metrolinks updated to the new models. I guess i never got around to it. Hence the PHi's just sitting in a folder called "calfiornication holding cell" there was also a a nicely updated Surfliner sitting there I forgot about.

~shrug~.

Even if i did update it, I'll need new photos of the sides. it will look about the same with the skins I had. Maybe I can ask Marc for his skins.

I not so shure about the hight, the skin might just be creating an illusion. I came up with an idea some time ago to make re-skinning more simplfied, for improving the appearance. I thought that
using the old skin as a template and painting over it with the improvements. The skins where otherwise correct, it was just the colors.

BTW, just saw youtube video of #888. The roof is black so you know when/if you make/remake the MP36PH-3C, Here's a link to the video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVp7ojgMOHs&NR=1

Hard to tell there .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBnYtepFX8A looks blue. especially when you pick out the black details.

I used photos taken while in the lot at MPI on in the UP train that hauled it home to LA. I am pretty sure it was the dirty purple. especially since this was a photoskin and not hand painted.

I just went back to check those and they are all pulled off the website.

In LA these defiantly look purplish

In transit, hard to see here. Look at the tank then the roof.

I am sure sun has a lot to do with illusions. it is hard to tell especially once it starts getting nasty with exhaust.
We will know better once these babys are in service.

PS a lot of my trains get repainted to other colors anyways due to the palette. Take Norfolk Southern as an example. None of my NS trains are black.

Ya, it's hard to tell the color in the video, well kinda. I'm used to the southern Californian sun, so I'm able to tell the color. I have no idea if/when they go into service, I've only seen operations on the lines heading northward, and that was a year and a half ago. Also what colors comprise the palette for locomotion. Could you post a link to or the palette itself? Otherwise if I were to make something, I'd only be able to use it for other programs, like Trainz Railroad Simulator.

Also, which program was that model in?

Interesting, well that's whats happens with 256 color. I got my other computer running, but my business computer now won't turn on. So I started to build the model for the coach/cab-coach. The catch: I only know how to build 3-D models of Trainz, not MSTS. Because the MSTS gamepack won't run, I didn't learn to create for MSTS. Though the documents included with MSTS aren't very clear. However, I am not able to create textures when the time comes to do so.

Though, perhaps the F40 that Metrolink has would be a good idea too?

There are indeed 2 body styles for the F59, the F59PH and the F59PHI. both are very different.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_F59PHI

Metra, Owns neither one of them. I don't think they ever will. Especially now that EMD is out of the Passenger locomotive business.

Edit:
now that you pics load,

top pic a set of MPI MP36PH-3S
Metra owns 27 of those

Bottom pic an F40PH-2
That unit looks like one the Union Pacific owned ones with new modidifications done to it. in the last rebuild program Mars Lights removed from cab, 5th step modification, RV style A/C.
Metra owns about 200 F40PH, F40PH-2 and F40PHM-2's.
They might still have Two F40C's in mothballs. the rest of the F40C's have been retierd.

ok.... I'm aware that Metra owns a few MPI MP36PH-3S. Now i want to know if i can get them somewhere, and if you can get them, are they compatible with the other metra lomo stock.
Edit: ok... i found a post you made and it has this picture:

and this brings up another question...... why arent the metra electrics in the pack too????? im really confused. (not mad, just confused.)

the electrics have been out for a long time. I made those in myself in 3D. one was in 2.1? and one was in 2.3?

I thought the mp36 for Metra was out, maybe not.

The model maker did make a request that he hosts the file on his server.

at this point it might be in limbo.

it might show up in 2.4

it might show up in a bigger pack that is in the works.

it might wait for the Chicago pack as a nice addition.
