[Released] Boeing 767,787

Post by cameron1991 »

Because there wasn't any mid-size aircraft in the Aircraft Pack v1.1, I decided to make my own. At the moment Ive made a 767-200 and a 787-8 using the default 777 graphics. Im still editing the operating costs of them but they should be ready soon. They will use the 777 graphics until I figure out how to make good-looking planes in GMAX.

The specifications for the 767-200 are:
Designed: 1982
Obsolete: Never
Max Speed: 852kmh (530mph)
Weight: 143t
Capacity: 255 passengers+10 bags of mail (for their little digital cargoholds :D)

The specifications for the 787-8 are:
Designed: 2009
Obsolete: Never
Max Speed: 902kmh (561mph)
Weight: 219t
Capacity: 250 passengers+10 bags of mail (for their little digital cargoholds :D)
(For those who don't know, the 787 is intended as a replacement for 767s, and is much, much cheaper to operate)

Also I might give them a small capacity for mail and goods because in RL they have cargoholds like every other plane...

So what do you think? Is there much interest for these planes in Lomo?

Edit

Ive released the Boieng 767-200 and 787-8, they are attached to this post
Ive also added some pictures showing their costs as at 2020

Definately!

The 767 is my favourite plane, it is has enough range to go far, but its still quite small.

IF you need people to do repaints for it, ask me and I can try to make some (if someone tells me what programme to use), or I could just steal some off my Flight Sim repaints...

When they are done and ready to the creator's satisfaction and not before that!

I had a try at modeling a 767 last night and it didnt go too well...
So I wont be making models for the two planes because im no good at modeling, but I will still modify the 777 to create the 767 and 787, there just wont be any new graphics...

It's been 8-9 months since I posted in this thread (I haven't been around much due to an HDD failure in which I lost everything) and a few months since I've last come to TT-Forums.
I finally reinstalled Lomo last week and I found this excellent tutorial when browsing the forums looking for new objects to use ingame. I downloaded a trial of 3ds Max and after 6 hours of tinkering, came up with this:
Image
It's the Boeing 787-8 and I had originally decided to use the model for Sim City 4, but today I thought I could render it for use in Lomo aswell. It still needs some touchups and textures, but a friend from the SC4 community is helping me with that, now I just need to some how get this in to Lomo to test the scale and see how it looks etc (and of course release!)
So here's the problem, I haven't got the slightest clue of what to do to get it into Lomo, so hopefully someone here can help!

Hi there.

First af all - my congratulations! Your first plane looks really good, but - as a first one...

So, several things that I've noticed.
1. Where is the pilots cabin? Without it the geometry of a model looks poor and the fuselage looks like a rocket.
2. You'd better smooth the edges, which separates the "tubular" central part of fuselage anf "conical" tail part.
3. Wings... No comments... May you'd just try to take a look on a real wing PROFILE =)
4. Tail. The same problems as with wings.
5. Engine.. Also should be smoothed. And the engine pylons - do you really think that they have a shape like this?

And again - for the first plane your model is really good! My first one was worse.

As for me it takes 8 hours to make a model for LoMo. Most of them are in my topic.

Anyhow, here are some advices for you. Its up to you of course will you follow them or not))
1. There is a tutorial in 3D Max itself for modelling a plane (P-38 Lightning or its better to say - modelling something which loks like P-38 =) ). The only thing in this tutorial is really good - the way of making fuselage. Being honest, I use the same way almost for everything - for wings, tail, stabiliser and engines.
2. The way of working with 3-views, shown in the tutorial that you've posted here is the best one!
3. Also it is extremely useful to get known how to work with NURBS-surfaces. Just convert any object to a poly, turn on NURBS subdivision and you can get any shape you like.
4. Don't forget to make a texture for your model. A plane with a liverie looks much better. Also by a texture you can make some small parts, which you feel lazy to model))

Good luck! Hope to see really good model from you soon!
