Random PC crash/restart

My PC keeps restarting at random points when im playing Loco. It doesnt do it any other time, my pc is easily capable of running it, i dont have any mods/scenarios, i have ran a virus scan as someone advised & i do have the official patch. I found one other thread about this but it didnt have anything to help me. CAn anyone help me out with this???

Pentium 4 3.20Ghz, 1GB ram, Medion radeon x740xl graphics. Have i missed anything of to help?

Ok easy question; is this only happening when playing Locomotion or also other games?

Only when playing Loco. It jus goes black & restarts. I play other games that require much more processing power & games that use more graphics power & never have any problems. Ive watched where ive been in a game or what i was doing but it would just be at random points, even if i load the same game it still seems random

Or any 64bit OS?

It seems that the 54bit operating systems dont like 32bit programs too much at times and will just close (log off)

I use xp. I play old & new games & havent had this problem before? Would running it in compatibility mode for a diffrent windows make a difference?

i would make sure you have the correct/latest video and sound drivers.

check your event log, it mught have some info. also if the crash made a memdump that might have some pointers.


also, in the game options, you can select what sound driver you use. try changing that. i used to crash my laptop with the microsoft driver..

I up dated graphics card driver n played for a while & it didnt crash so it might have been that, i'll post again if it crashes still.

ok spoke too soon! Crashed again but didnt just restart a blue screen came up, with error messages & lots of codes & stuff.
There was:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
CMUDAX.SYS
Address EDCF9247 base at EDC710000 DATESTAMP 415d0000

There were also a few like: STOP - 0x000000d1

This means absolutely nothing to me Anyone any ideas whats wrong here?

you have a resources conflict of sorts. time to start hunting.....

be glad we are past the pre plug and pray (play) days when you had to manually assign all resources, it was less fun then fine tunning the engine on a ferrari...

Its a conflict of a piece of hardware in your pc with another ... both are trying to use the same area of your PC to do different things and is hence crashing...

I think google will be your friend...

How to make Win Vista to play old games

Right click on the program, hit the compatibility tab and select the OS the game was meant to play in.
