yep. just paste the pallets image into paint and Bobs your uncle. Just use the eye dropper tool to select the colour from the pallete image.

Don't underestimate the power of paint. Tho it's very simple, it can do a lot more than you think. I've been using paint for ages, and it's the best image editor I've seen, at least, for pixel work. I admit, for photo-editing it's not recommended. But for anything related to TT and spriting, it's priceless.

okay, enough of the offtopic paint debate

Heres the result of a hard days spriting:

uzurpator, I didnt exactly copy your side view, but I used it as a (helpful) reference, I hope thats ok.

Edit:
Fixed some shading errors (missed out bits) , rounded the coach ends, added sprites for coaches.

Looks quite nice, but the wheels look like tyres.

Hmm... I'd shade the roof differently, but everyone has his own style of doing that.

I did the roof from your tutorial..
do you think it could use some "weathering"?

I did some quick drawing on it, take a look at the attachment.

Nah, I like clean engines when I buy them. Tho some may like it. It's your choice.

okay purno thanks :D

I shall have a look at your carrige and make some changes

hmm
your wheels are better than mine, but I made a couple of changes so its more like that of the original trains:

Image

is that better?
the original trains wheels are like: (wheels go on ends) also the ends of the gaps in the bottom of the train where the wheels go are sloping..
ignore the dots :)

\_________/
/..................\

as for the weathering, I shall leave the trains clean.. its just they are nothing remotely close to clean in reality: (post continues after pic)
Image
Now that the NSE is done, or nearly done (I'm open to suggestions!)
Im thinking about coding, and where it will slot into the game.
If it was just a normal train, I would just replace the chubby chuff choo choo or whatever the hell the toytown train is called..
but its an EMU, does this mean I have to replace a D/EMU in the game for it to work seperatley?
if so.. does toytown have any E/DMUs? I am NOT playing through toytown to the year 199x to find out. NO.

if so, I was thinking it could possibly replace the second EMU in the game?

Wow nice graphics. This is making me want to draw again and maybe you could add a high detail to the wheels and other stuff because if you break the mould of what normal people do they you make a new style.

heh, thanks people!

Im still amazed at the positive response.
As for the class 91, Im not sure I'd be interested in that (intercity 225, right?)
because its damn ugly  (IMHO)

I'll do a 125 or the 317 if you want, maybe.
For now I want to code the 465 and get it into the game, then I may do a 411.

I have been dabbling in .nfo editing and suchlike
damn, its.. impossibly hard
will it even work on OTTD? I doubt it
I've done harder code related things (i.e C++, Java) but..
the tutorials arent huugley clear..

It may. It may not. If it works in Patch, and not in Open, poke Peter1138 and ask why. If it doesn't work in Patch, ask here, and someone will probably know why.
javaguy wrote:the tutorials arent huugley clear..
Unfortunately, they are not. Ask questions here, providing the code that you have written, the sentence(s) from the wiki that make you think it should work, and the evidence you have that it isn't working, and someone will almost certainly know how to fix it.

Oh, and forget everything you think you know about programming, with the exception of the following:
Hexadecimal
Bits
Sizes (byte, word, doubleword)
C's arithmetic and logical operators

Specifically, forget about conditionals (if, switch, &c.) and function calls.
Both do exist, but in such vastly different forms as to be unrecognizable.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

NFO is really a form of assembly language. All it needs is someone to write a proper HLL on top of it...
