Need Help with signals at right side of tracks !!
Hello guys,
Im new to this forum and i havent read all the topics.
I was wondering if you guys could help me with the signal mod.
I cant make it work. I can select the right side signals in the scenario.
But when i want to place them in the game there not in the list.
The readme file says that you have to write the files in trackst but it dont say what you have to write and in what way. Can someone help me with this
Thx in advandce

Srry wasnt too specific with my question. How can i put the English signals on the right side of the tracks. Because if you play the american scenario there still at the left side of the track. I have the mod and i can select right side signals in scenario. But when i play that scenario i cant select them.
I want to know what i have to do in the trackst.dat file to select the right side signals in the game. BTW downloaded my first mod package yesterday. Im a really big n00b when it comes with Locomotion files!!
Can someone help me plz
Thx in advandce.
This is what the readme file says.
British Signals on the right trackside for Chris Sawyer's Locomotion
---
Installation:
Move all the .DAT files from the set to the "OBJDATA" folder of your Locomotion game folder.
Before you can use the signals, you must write the files into your "trackst.dat" or each other tracktype file, where you would use the signals.

I think that sceenshot has come with his download!
I wonder if it would not be easier to edit the objects in the scenario editor, and de-select the UK sigs, and select the USA or whatever sigs instead?
I take it that you require to play UK scenarios, but with left hand running?
I have had a similar problem with USA Scenarios, remebering to build for left hand rather than right hand running!

actually in the US some railroads still drive on the left side (there was no standard at first). Chicago and North Western (owned by union Pacific) is a good example.
as far as the singal set i have no idea what mod you are using. but, i imagine you need to use loco tool and modify the trackst.dat per the instructions.
maybe you can use the US signals for now? untill you are comfortable editing dat files?

It had something to do with passenger loading and unloading. i dont remember the reason why. but at this point, it is cost prohibitive to change over the CNW because of signaling and platfrom location for metra. (dont quote me on this i just remember reading it on wiki or somthing doing reaserch for the US set.)
Edit i looked it up.

Sorry for hijacking your thread... sort of on topic but does not help youwiki wrote:The CNW was known for running "left-hand main" on double track mainlines. In other words, traffic was routed by default to the track on the left rather than the track on the right. In the United States, most railroads followed the "right-hand main" operating practice, while "left-hand main" running was more common in countries where automobile traffic drove on the left as well. According to a display in the Lake Forest station, the reason for this was a combination of chance and inertia. When originally built as single-line trackage, the C&NW arbitrarily placed its stations on the left-hand side of the tracks (when headed inbound toward Chicago). Later, when a second track was added, it was placed on the side away from the stations so as not to force them to relocate. Since most passengers waiting at the stations were headed toward Chicago, the inbound track remained the one closest to the station platforms. The expense of reconfiguring signals and switches has prevented a conversion to right-hand operation ever since.
The railroad also purchased a great deal of its equipment second-hand. CNW shop forces economized wherever possible, earning the railroad the nickname Cheap and Nothing Wasted

In Holland we drive at the right side so the signals are on the right side too.
The driver seats are in middle or right-side of the train.
Then NS then bought the French lok 1600 with the seat on the left side, because they drive there on the left.
This was to expensive to change.
We, the drivers thought it was hard to get used at this position, but found out that it was even more comfortable.
Because the signals normally stay between the poles of the overhead wires, we see them now earlier then before, making driving more relaxed.

I have been working on the dat file with LocoTool. I tried a few things to make it work. I opened the .xml file with wordpad and add these lines in it
<useobject desc="signal[11]" class="10">SIGC3R </useobject>
<useobject desc="signal[12]" class="10">SIGC4R </useobject>
<useobject desc="signal[13]" class="10">SIGSDLR </useobject>
<useobject desc="signal[14]" class="10">SIGSDR </useobject>
<useobject desc="signal[15]" class="10">SIGSR </useobject>
<useobject desc="signal[16]" class="10">SIGSLR </useobject>
These are the files from the mod. I saved the wordpad file. Then i saved the .xml file and changed it into DAT. Put the file in ObjData and overwrite it.
I can still select them in scenario but i cant select them in the game. Are there more things i have to do.
I tried to change the standard files but its still not working.
Can you help me with this
Thx
