[WIP] stuff

Post by marcf »

Boo.

Image

feel free to suggest changes, im still finding my way around the modelling side, and i'm not sure about prices/running cost/power

Image
i have permission to release this one, but im going to muck around with the bogey positions first and see if i can make it shorter without making it look ugly

Image
more uglyness, i'll try shortening it when i found out how

updated the big boy since the first pic,
Image
sits on the tracks better, tender sits closer, animated running gear, only 1224 sprites :P
the running gear doesnt look as good as the ones built into the game, im still trying to figure out how to do it properly
animated gif

still looking for permission on most of them, the DD40 was made by Auran for MSTS, jthe big boys by North American Locomotive Works (MSTS content creator), and the QR2800 was made by Stew Winston for MSTS

ill add more stuff later, gotta get ready for work

Man, your a champ, what program do you use?; maybe I could help make a few, and you just render and do everything else :P, lols.

Is it just me, or does the DD40X have more power then the Bigboy?, because I belive it should have around twice as much as the bigboy.
But they still look cool as  .

Great stuff. :D
I don't know if i'm right, but placing the boogies of the DD40X more to the center of the lok, could make it look some better.
Then the front and the rear will stick out more, so the inner circle is filled up.
For the push rods of the Bigboy, now you see them move only up and down, not rotate.
Perhaps a little change of the angle in the drawing before rendering could help.
Make the angles irregular, so that they don't overlap.

its been done with the editing the MSTS model, im still trying to figure out how to get all the parts to move, so far i have only moved the large rod up and down, and hidden the rest

also, the prices/running costs from the pictures are from different years, the bigboys from 1940, the DD40 from 1970 and the F7 from 1949, this is why the prices are dramatically different

if someone wants to get me a realistic number for the horsepower of the big boy, go ahead :)

I tried that already, the boiler clips bad over the front bogie. I wish you better luck then I had.

Ooooh...

You're making me hungry!

*drools everywhere*

Although I have a question.

Are you intending to make any US freight cars to replace the LoMo ones, other than Plastikman's containers?

You know, for the real american feel.

As I was saying I'll be interested too when I go back to Loco again (been playing too much RCT2!)

And I've voted now, cos it seems I hadn't before (voted yes of course!)
