About enhancetunnels:

I know the graphics, but they don't have all sides, neither would they work for the different train system, neither are they seperate sprites. Ohh, when it's done ...

Some screenshots of a multiplayer game via LAN with my two bigger brothers (used OpenTTD integrated nightly r3090I4.5). Notice that there are more than one company using trains on the railway tracks!

My company is red, and my youngest big brother uses blue (both started 1950) and my other big brother is yellow (started 2042).

Screenshots from this thread.

Pineapple Rails

Post by PikkaBird »

First view of my new Tropics set... Rai has been beta testing for me and has some shots he's itching to show, so I thought I'd get in first.

This set changes the landscape, towns, industries, and track gauge in the Tropic scenario, as well as (obviously) the rolling stock. It also has custom running and horn sounds for every locomotive!

Note the trees in the "desert" (as well as a couple of other landscape features) require new patchcode which is in beta testing, which is why Rai's screenshots won't have them.

I can break my screenie drought! A big cheers to Pikka for letting me help test this set, this is one of the toughest games I have played in a long time. Combine slower, weaker trains and an inhosipitable climate with an unreal dependance on crude oil, steep mountains and rainforest, large distances and small towns, and you have one heck of a game to play.

This "scenario" (not the map, the situation) is one of the best I have encountered yet.

EDIT: Okay, flip the descriptions around ;)

Lets take a look at my two favorite "old" screenies. These show my savegame in 1927 and 1944 respectivly.

The first one, taken in 1927 shows the state of Daintree Flats when my company first moved into the town. A small bus service, departs twice a day to the next town, of Tinakaba. An industrial shortline to the north, brings fuel oil to the town, to power the generator. This is produced about 30 minutes drive to the east, in Mareeree.

The food prossessing plant is serviced by a fruit plantation on the other side of the town, as well as a sugar mill at Tinakaba and some more fruit to the north. Due to economy troubles, as well as lack of intrest, the fruit line to the east is closed by 1933, and the fuel oil line is replaced by trucks by 1940. The tracks are abandoned, and signals removed to release more jobs.

The second screenie is shown about an hours drive to the WSW, and is on the other side of the mighty Boora River. In between the river and the mountains, small towns are dotted around, usually as a result of coal mining. Buses run along the road here to Biloea, to the south. The train in the picture is a 4-6-0 "Pineapple" class branch line steamer, taking some fruit and mail to the far south, in the Boora Delta. A single passenger coach is on this train, but not many people choose to travel, due to a nation-wide recession.

My bank account hurts :)).

By 1956, much has changed. The global economy has strengthed, new deposits of crude oil have been opened up to the north, and towns are starting to grow. Few people seem ready to travel though.

In the far north, where the outback gives way to more rainforest, we see the terminus of the line north from Daintree. This one of the regions main sources of crude oil, as well as south, at Mt. Cloncurry, and some new deposits over at Townsville (no, not the real one). The first picture, you can see a shiny silver "Comeng" railcar departing. This is the only train to stop at this station, most freights come down here to run around their empty trains to run back to Daintree.
