Good, but there's too big a of jump between stage 1 and 2. You need a stage where the buildings are in post and beam form, before the bricks go on.

you can only fit so much between three stages. The stages are built square by square anyway, so it should come out looking pretty Ok

How about a forest for Arctic that can be built below the snowline :D With the current newcargoes support, shouldn't be too hard (I hope) and it'll come in very handy for my new scenario ;)

Even better ... would it now be possible to import the sub-tropic sawmill into temperate and arctic?

You didn't need to wait for newcargos to do either, just newindustries should've made that possible already.

I like that idea too. Now comes the question... Anyone want to code them? :P

DanMack, how does this work for a Temperate Lumber Mill?

edit: I added logs. No I need to fill the empty section round front. Maybe a steam powered crane? I mean a tracked version, not on rails.

Not bad at all, I'd suggest A LOT more clutter though, and maybe a sawdust burner. Be good to see this in Arctic as well. Maybe have it produce Pulpwood and woodchips (for the paper mill), and goods (or cut lumber if factory is introduced)

Very nice wood. There is a problem with shading on some parts, but it is because the are mirrored. I suppose it was done for demo issue and would be fixed soon.
Would it be possible to relise the wood separately too to make it possible to use it with vehicles? http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=19066

Hi guys.
I quite like this idea with the lumber mill in arctic and temperate. However, I currently never use the one in tropic for one single reason:
It kills all the trees. leaving behind nothing else but blank tiles.

If you want to introduce it to temperate and arctic, I think it should work like this:
- Each tree felt should be replaced with a new one.
- Work in sections (eg. Fell all trees in the 5x5 square first, then replant the trees with multiple trees and work off a different 5x5 section)
- Slow the felling of tree

If all these points would be implemented, you could actually replace the forrests with that.

Hello The Irish ... you have to learn how to practice good forest management.
After the sawmill has cut a block of forest, use the plant trees tool. First select a tree to plant. Next place the curser on a spot cut by the sawmill, preferably a spot that is next to an uncut tile and then do a ctrl+click. The clearcut area will fill with trees back towards the center of the clearcut area. It will cost money to do this but think of it as an investment towards the next harvest.
A cheaper alternative is the forest will grow back on its own at game speed and new trees that appear closest to the sawmill are quickly cut by those hungry lumberjacks. :D

BornAcorn: Nice sawmill and that crane would be a nice touch, especially if its animated. :)

DanMack: I see this with the Irving sawmills in New Brunswick:
1. produce lumber for factories and home builders and export.
2. produce wood chips for pulp mills

George: Yes ... trucks are used extensively localy to haul woodchips. I'll try to find a photo for you and add it to this post today.

Ooh, thanks for this Tipp. Didn't know this one.
But still, I think it would be better if the mill would replace them by themselfs, rather than me having to do this... Would be more realistic, IMO. And I don't want to pay for this.

Perhaps this Lumber mill could act like a farm, and it would have tree graphics instead of fields. Don't know if thats possible though

Living in a province where forestry is a/the major industry, I can assure you that the tropic climate approach is very realistic. :)

Hmmm ... interesting ... That would satisfy The Irish's suggestion I think.

Another possibility which is very realistic ...
A forestry/wood cutting/harvesting industry where trees are grown and harvested with the logs transported to a sawmill where the logs are accepted and used to produce wood and woodchips. I know this sounds very similar to the current temperate arrangement but I would like to see the forestry implemented as in the tropics but with the sawmill established apart from the harvesting operations..
