2.0.1 alpha / 2.5 beta discussion

Maybe this fix could be combined with fixing the bulldozer/dynamite problem - that is, if you install the GRF files that replaces the explosion with little construction vehicles, it works nicely for normal demolishing, but also shows up in odd places like the Zeppelin crash.

Well, I have had the 4074 build of Longhorn on my desktop for a while now. Contrary to what most people think it is very stable when you disably things like WinFS. And it still has most of the Longhorn Goodness.
Well anyway, I wanted to run TTD with the patch on Horny, since TTD has issues with operating systems other than 9x (NT, XP, Linux, Probably OS/2), heres how to do it:
Hope this helps anyone who shares my burning desire to use weird operating systems (I have three at the moment, WinXP, Longhorn and Mandrake 10.1, all on one box
).
And to cover the legal aspect of Longhorn:
No I'm not telling you where to download it.
No I wont tell you via PM.
Yes I will tell you if email me. But I dont advise it.

This works with the 4074 build of Longhorn and TTDPatch alpha 41 pre5.Install TTD (Skip this if its on another partition already)
Run the TTD config program (With the fish icon) and set that all up.
Install and run TTDPatch. If you get no errors, have fun.
If you do however get errors (90% chance, I had the error), download dplay.dll and stick it in your TTD directory.
TTDPatch should now run.

To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Well in that case, can you post a screenshot? Or a savegame?goalie wrote:sorry my game does not make screenies
If you can't get a screenshot, then you aren't playing TTD, patched, unpatched, OR open.
Try that menu with the query tool.

I just upgraded to a41. I am using the higher resolution setting but NOT the path-finding signal switch.
I loaded a savegame I've been playing for a while, using the US set. Everything appeared to be working normally.
Then a number of locos started wearing out (legitimately). I started trying to replace them and got a very odd effect. SOME (but not all) refuse to go into the depot. Or more accurately, they refuse to stay there. They enter the depot OK, but after a bit they start coming back out again while their tail is still going in. No collision, and the train stops when the end of the tail gets into the depot, leaving the front half hanging out. But as far as the depot is concerned, the train isn't in there, so I can't replace the aging loco. I'm not sure if it gets maintained or not.
Thus far, it's only happened on depots where the train isn't forced to enter, which is the minority in this game. Other than that, there doesn't appear to be a pattern, although the particular locos it's happening to are relatively rare ones for me, so I don't know for sure if those locos actually work OK on different trains.
Do you already know about this one, or do you need a savegame?

There is a bug where screenshots turn out black - he could be having that problem.DaleStan wrote:If you can't get a screenshot, then you aren't playing TTD, patched, unpatched, OR open.
You're saying I'm a Dominion spy, and don't even know it! - Dr. Bashir

I noticed this same effect under previous alphas, but ONLY when I told the train to ignore the signal whilst it was still going into the depot - it came back out again, and did exactly what you said above.krtaylor wrote:Then a number of locos started wearing out (legitimately).
