Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
I forgot all about that .. so technically for now I could just set the number of years before they expire as it is in reality and life span before needing overhauled to say 30 years. This way a 44 class that would become unavailable to purchase say by 1994 can still operate for another 30 years providing you overhaul it on or before 1994.The player can already override any set's expiration dates by enabling "Vehicles never expire" in the game settings.
Loco classes that are still operational today just set these as never expire.
As you say those who want older 'vehicles never expire' can turn this option on in game settings.
With Steam Locos in NSW there still a 32 class, 59 class, 36 class and 38 classes still in service with heritage groups. Could be more that I not know of. So these locos could set them to not expire till say the year 2020 or thereabouts. If there are any Aussie steam buffs reading this send us a list of what steam classes are still operational and being restored.
I finish doing the Lineside_Objects which should not be much longer .. maybe a week or two, then I get stuck back into the AuzTrains and maybe take NSWTrains back out of mothballs and add some Heritage Trains to it.

I totally forgot about "Vehicles never Expire", despite the fact I tend to keep that setting on so I can use what ever I want, as sometimes modern locomotives arent as good as something that came out 30 years ago.

An AD60 Garratt got restored recently, I was on its inaugural run. There's also a 27 class in heritage operation.GarryG wrote:

Emperor Jake you lucky fella enjoying a ride behind the AD60. Which one was it .. as a guess I'd say the one that the Canberra groups has?AD60 Garratt got restored recently
Me too .. I researched all NSW Locos and some so far from other States. Basically all the NSW Diesels Still have at least one of its members operational. Either with a Rail Company or with a heritage group. So what I got in mind is .. if a loco class still have a reasonably number still in service made these "Vehicle Never Expires". If a class has just a few left or they only with a Heritage Group, I given them 50 years.I totally forgot about "Vehicles never Expire"
I upgraded the Life Span to 30 years before needing replacement.
The Steam Locos haven't decided with these yet. But I think since Steam was still around until 1970s, I think majority of steam can at least last that long.

I think your idea is pretty good, I'd say anything that's still running today can still be used.
Also I saw some videos about those AD60 Garrets, pretty cool, not often you get to see a huge garret like that running. They sure do put off a LOT of smoke dont they?

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
The Garrets lovely to watch in motion. Thing I disliked about them is when I worked at Broadmeadow Loco Depot one of my jobs was scrapping out the dirt and rust from inside the water tanks on them.
For a bit longer I will concentrate on the version on Auz_Lineside_Objects .. a few buildings need a touch up .. the ones with the awning, I think the awnings need to be lifted a bit so can see part of the building walls. I been adding some objects that can be used with railway lines that run north-south and east-west.
I will finish doing research of Aussie locos over the next week or 2 see what still running and get other information before I start any more work with the AuzTrains.

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
Can I get an opinion from some of you.
Want to know which looks best with these stations buildings.
1. With no awnings .. can see all the walls, doors and windows.
2. Short Awnings so can see some a portion of the walls of building.
3. Long awning .. but unable to see the walls of the buildings
I like them all, that why I not sure what to decide.

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
Hi Garry G, nice effort putting together a comprehensive NSW/ Australian set.You sure do have a lot of determination to have something playable. In saying that, I find it hard to swallow that I come on here after a while to find a set with much of my work used, or hacked, without even a PM or proper acknowledgement....
'Coalroads artist and BobDendry - makers of "Australian Standard Gauge v0.1.1" - I practiced with their sprites and made my designs based on what they had in the set.'
Those sprites are more then based on my work and many of them unaltered. Many of those sprites - the rail motors, 48, 49, NR, 90, 82 etc, are not Danmack's and are mine, as written in the tracking table, as is much of that rolling stock. I did not envisage my art being used for a set that has been derived like this one has, but coded with more sophistication such as Bobdendry had committed to - overrides etc. I'm not ignorant enough to believe I would ever get such a thing in the near future, but would have rather had it done properly. Knowing someone was so committed as yourself to get this off the ground, I may have changed my mind without much thought, but since proper credit was not given for my work, with you instead trying to circumvent my copyright by not mentioning my ownership of art, I can't consider such a idea. You can keep what you have in the set now, but I do not want any of my other work used unless I specify so.
I hope this doesn't set you back as you are doing a great job, but it's important that everyone acknowledges artist's copyright and effort.. Your line side objects is a great set and some great original work in there (Some of your trains are pretty good too), so I have no problem offering these unfinished sprites for use in your set, if you want them. It wouldn't take much to finish them off, just use the same colours.

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
Hello Coalroad Artist, I am please to hear from you.
I sure I PM you weeks before I started doing these projects. I also mentioned it in the this and other forums in an attempt to contact you and others.
I PM BobDendry too and several others from other sites. Why you not got I have no idea and for that I deeply apologise.
While waiting to hear from you I used some of the loco sprites to practise with which I designed some of my own from.
After not hearing from you for over a month I thought shame all that hard work you and others have done for it not to get off the ground, and when I got answer from Denmack to use the sprites on the website I presumed was ok to use what I found. Sorry that I presumed it the wrong way.
Credit to you and everyone else been in the readme files and in this forum, but when I read how I credited everyone .. I didn't word it properly. You are mentioned but basically not how it should have been credited and again I apologise for this error.
Everyone in these forums who have designed projects that I borrowed information from, they can vouch that I made contact with them before doing so, even so their licence said I can use them. But I still asked as I think it always polite to do so.
I be more the happy to credit you where credit is due as you deserve it. I will make sure the readme files are reworded and change the wording shortly on this forum.
When I started doing the Australian Train I was in this forum http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=73048 for a while and later started this site.
I'd be happy if we could work together in these Aussie projects.
Love your station designs happy to use them.
Please accept my apologise as I did not meant to tread on toes and I tried to give credits to everyone who has helped me in some form or another including where I got sprites from.
Update:
Just thought you like to know I sent you the PM (at least I thought I did) on November 4 as also sent one to BobDendry on same day, but his is still pending . hasn't looked at it yet. I near sure yours was pending to for a few weeks before it disappeared off my User Control panel.
I started this project on this site http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... 0#p1159553 and you are mentioned there.
Sorry pal for any harm I did.

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
Hi all,
Had a go at using Coalroads_artists station buildings .. they look really good.
Need to turn them around to show the backs of them as well so can use in all directions.
These building have given me ideas. I never thought with some of my stations moving them back in a short distance so can widen the platforms and give them awnings.
I think all buildings that had awnings should have awnings include .. just hard now to decide how wide the awnings should be.
Cheers all

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
I think your right as it allows awnings on stations that suppose have them and still allow some of the texture of the building to be visible to make it look that much better.I think I like the short awnings better than the longer awnings.
I think I will start putting short awnings on all station buildings.

Been playing around with the Coalroads_artists stations.
Still need to do rear views .. but want to get front views looking good first.

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
Hi all, I been unintentionally treading on some toes in making these projects .. until I set things straight and make every one happy, especially get my wording correct in credits.
This is what I be adding to the AuzTrains and NSWTrains. If I left any one out please correct me.
-------------------------
Credits go to those involved with the making of 2cc Trains In NML, "Australian Standard Gauge v0.1.1" and "Generic Australian Set (GARS)"
If it wasn't for the use of their coding and sprites my set would never had got started.
Much thanks goes to all the following people .. and probably many others I haven't mention (I have not left them out intentionally, just not kept my records up to date when I started all this).
NML Coding for this project provided by:
----------------------------------------
- Transportman
- GarryG
Graphics for the NSWTrains and AusTrains Sets provided by:

- ttdx_artist
- m0b1u5_0n3
- SMR24
Run down:
Transportman --------- for allowing me to use his coding from the 2ccts train set. I used his coding throughout my projects, only changing a few details for each locomotive and rolling stock where needed.
Voyager One ---------- for giving me permission to use the sprites from the 2ccts sets. I used his sprites as templates to make what I wanted. Also noticed some sprites were credited to Jake Dander so like to thank him too.
Coalroads_artist ----- who made sprites for the "Australian Standard Gauge v0.1.1" - I was his sprite of the 44 class diesel that I practised with which helped me design the 43 and 42 class diesels and some others. Then I used his C38 class steam loco to practice doing my own C38s and other steam locos. Once I was reasonably confident drawing my own sprites, and to show appreciation I added many of his sprites to my sets by coping what he had done over to the templates I was using from the 2cc Train Set. The majority of Freight Wagons where designed by Coalroads_artist.
DanMack -------------- who also contributed sprites to the "Australian Standard Gauge v0.1.1" . when first got his permission to use sprites from the website http://users.tt-forums.net/danmack/AusSetTable.html .. I wrongly mistook it to be able to use all the sprite there including those made by the following .. Coalroad_artists, SingaporeKid, Purno, Raichase, Siema and uzurpator. I deeply apologise to these other fella for this mistake, but hope you will forgive me and appreciate that your work has got off the ground and is in use.
NekoMaker ------------ maker of the "Generic Australian Set (GARS)" - He gave me some incentive to start this project back in May 2015 and with practice (I practiced using sprites from Voyager One, Nekomaster and Coalroads_artist for several months) until I eventually got confident enough to start making these sets.
McZapkie and 3iff --- First McZapkie helped me to do Scenarios and involved me in some of his projects, then 3iff started to teach me NML and got me started in programming. Basically these 2 fellas got me started and hooked on making projects.
Thanks also goes to these fellas who have also given me supports in one form or another on this project and others I did and doing.

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
It pouring rain today so good day to make some changes to the culverts in Lineside Objects as technically they were wrong.
A solid wall of water coming down the creeks and storm water drains hitting a solid concrete or brick wall, will soon washaway the tracks.
So I changing the walls to be at a slight angle to make the wall stronger and to guide the water into the culverts.
What you think of this design?

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
Updated 15th January 2016 8:30 pm
Here's a copy of the next Auz_Lineside_Objects_V3.
Version 2 had a minor conflict with Friss-stations so had to change some coding therefore released version 3.
There are some extra culverts so look nice if creek and storm water drains happen to be same level as roads and railway lines. And also suitable now if the creeks and storm water drains are lower then roads and rail.
The creeks now have dirt/mud embankments. I think I must have got some in my eye .. good excuse for the errors I made.
The creeks and storm water drains now have a joiner. This will (should) join the creeks and storm water drains to rivers and canals. It worked in a scenario I tried .. so hope works for everyone else.
There some Station buildings not completed, but can still use as they are.
Signal Boxes, Staff Huts and the water tank can now be placed if line run north-south and east west.
UPDATE 16th January 2016:
Just uploaded the latest version to BaNaNas.
Now I hope I can relax for the weekend and enjoy some play time.
Cheers

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
really good job Garry G, thanks a lot for sharing it with the community.
I really like the small rivers you have added as newobjects ! (can t wait to see more tiles for it though...i m thinking slope tiles especially, eventually snowstage, a couple more variation for the straight river tile and the corners would be great too.
Also i think you should allow building those rivers tiles under any bridge (now i believe it s reserved to bridge that are two tile higher at least)
i would understand though if it s no priority
Also, about the buildings, i noticed you have used some cycling flashy colors for the awns (on that green roofed station drawn by coalroad) - if you don t see what i mean, try turning on animation (cause without animation they won t be flashing)
also very good job with the livestock/grain silo/goods warehouse sideline object, they are really good looking and will add great variety to ISR stations

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains
Thank you romazoon for the compliments and suggestions.
I don't know much how to code the slopes and snow tiles yet. Something I yet to learn.
When I played the game yesterday I too feel that a few variations to the creek is needed. Not sure how good I can do rocks, but some rocky creek beds might look good too.
Glad you mentioned the bridges .. I never tested bridges crossing the creeks .. see if I can fix.
The green awning building I seen the 2 flashing when I first got it and I don't think it was coalroads intentional to have them flash.
A few days ago I started to change the culverts and not realised until I played a game last night I had not finished them all. Bricks should be slanted each side of the Culvert to guide the water and more openings in the concrete ones. (see pic)
I definitely need to set a side a few days or more aside and only play some games with what I made so can pick out some of the faults.
PS
Just fixed the bridge problem over the creeks and drains.
Noticed another problem too .. if there is a road 1 square away from the railway line and you place a rail sign between them .. the rail sign will line up with the road not the rail. That too fixed.
I not having much luck with things last few days or so .. just not concentrating properly on what I doing and forgetting where I up to.
Next page will have another update .. this will be the last for a while as intend to have a weeks break and hope I can make my scenario and play.
