Tram derailment in The Hague

Post by Hyronymus »

Tram 3016 derailed this afternoon at the Schedeldoekshaven tracks, causing quite some damage to the tram, track, road surface and catenary support. There has been no mentioning of casualties and I hope it stays like that.

The tram has a slightly ironic commercial outing btw, see image below.

EDIT:All passengers and the driver are unharmed. It seems the tram derailed on a notorious junction.

Hmmm, I'll better check if I still can get to work tomorrow. I always use the tram that uses that track section!

But I'm not surprized a derailment happened there. A few weeks ago I the driver went through that bend quite fast and it felt like it could derail any second. Didn't happen then, but I bet speeding is the cause now.

This particular vehicle will probably not make it back into service. It's one of the older ones that are nominated to be put out of service first; they'll probably use it for parts.

This image is funny, it looks quite oppertunistic:

Also reminds me of a QI episode where they were mentioning easing of horses (& trains) as written in the scout's handbook.

Hope no-one from the SNP sees that photo- they might get the idea of saving yet more money on the Edinburgh tram by using 'people power'...

Actually that will work, as the ass of the tram is lifted from a crane. But if you omit that detail, it's quite a funny picture. Some sort of strongest man challenge :P

Anyways, it came to my attention that the trams use that track section again, as I went over it this morning :D
