Michael Blunck's Newstations homepage broken

Post by tangxx »

Hi all,

I tried to download Michael Blunck's newstations set but it has been downed for a few weeks. Does anyone know if there is any alternate site to get the file?

Thanks :)

There is another location but since you asked in the OpenTTD Graphics Forum I will not tell you as his license forbids the use of his graphics in OpenTTD.

Thanks Robotboy's tip I have found the link in ttd patch homepage.

What interested me is why Michael doesn't want his graphic sets to be used in OpenTTD :?:

because he is dumb ass

edit ... the link is http://www.ttdpatch.net/newgrf.html

Moreover, i see no paragrah in copyright notice that would actually forbid using it with openTTD

Ricardo, if it weren't for michael blunck's contributions to the TT community, arguably the largest non-code contributions of anyone, you possibly wouldn't even be playing openttd, as if it weren't for his and patchman's work to create the NewGRF system in ttdpatch the popularity of the patch and therefore openttd would be much less.

So, next time, before you accuse one of the smartest and most knowledgable members of the open/ttd/patch community of being a "dumbass", try not being one yourself.

As long as my site isn´t online again, you may download the files from http://www.ttdpatch.net/newgrf.html

Is what close to the reason for what?

I'm pretty sure Open doesn't have anything to do with MB's site being down, and I'm rather more certain that MB isn't a dumbass.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

From the view of an outsider I'd also say, that Mr. Blunck is pretty smart and also did an amazing job in increasing my gaming experience in multiple ways. And I personally am full of thanks for him doing his work and giving it to the community for free.

But - well - these seem to be the times where you call another person you don't even know a dumbass. I should get used to it, I guess.

I don't know where in the DBXL v0.82 Win Readme it says that one cannot use it in OTTD (or: use it only in TTDP). That Michael develops his stuff only with TTDP in mind doesn't say one is not allowed to use it in OTTD.

Thanks everyone for help :)

Would like to say sorry to Michael because of my curiosity you have to see the stupid comment from someone here. I cannot explain how grateful I am to the developers and graphic designers of both TTD patch and Openttd project so that many of us can enjoy this pc game for so many years :)

I remember there was an argument at one point and MB (Jokingly or not) said that his stuff was for TTDp only. I have quite a strong feeling it was jovial though.

EDIT: Either way, AWESOME stuff MB

I believe he has stated that for the moment he will continue to develop exclusively for TTDP, however has no problem with people using them in OTTD. Certainly I can understand where he is coming from.
