Full grf packs
Hi, are there any full pack out there somewhere to download. By full, what I mean is a pack that contains an industry, the cargo, and the train or lorry graphics.
I can't seen to get anything I've tried before to work. An example is new chemical industries I found- I managed to get them working, but when it came to buying a truck to carry the cargo, there wasn't one in the list.
Cheers.

Re: Full grf packs
#openttdcoop provids a grfpack (currently at version 7.1 IIRC)
(if you had googled or used the forums search function you would have found it too!)

Re: Full grf packs
Actually I have already tried that, but I can't figure out which ones I need to put in the game.
Can anyone guide me in the right direction?

Re: Full grf packs
he was not asking for a link, he was asking for suggestions about interesting grf combinations in a game. Actually I have the same issue of not knowing which sets to use...
I am little, ugly, and nasty. How do you do?
Re: Full grf packs
try this table, it shows you which grf's are in the pack, links to a good source of info for the grf, and provides details on possible parameter settings for the grf!

Re: Full grf packs
Still can't make an sense of it.
Re: Full grf packs
You should look at screenshots post and ask the author for their GRF list when you find something you like.
I think it's the best way to start.

Re: Full grf packs
still not there
what is wanted is a list of grfs to use together in a game.
Say, I have on my computer all grf files that exist. What we want you to say is, for example:
so we know those grf are nice together. However this example is lame since I just picked names that came to my head, but lists that "work" nicely would be appreciated.

Re: Full grf packs
that is a pure oppinion thing, if you start opening a discussion like that, it's just gonna turn into some flaming something.
have a look at what you have (trainsets, industries, trucks, trams, etc) play with a few and see what you like
then start mixing things
there simply is not "what to use" guide on newgrf's (and it's silly to assume so)
seriously, some people like pbi while others enjoy ecs, some like ukrs others dbsetXL and others again the servian sets....
just look at things yourself and see what you are in favour of!

Re: Full grf packs
That's a problem I have- so many neat graphics sets, so little time!
Right now I have the laptop set up with the UKRS, Pikka's basic industries (with the brickworks expansion) and all the "British looking" graphics.
The desktop install has the US train set, American stations, US roads, US town names, etc.
I use modified building costs and "expensive/short/slow bridges" to make things realistically tough.
For awhile, I was playing the Canadian set, Canadian stations set, etc. Working on a patch to rename cargoes so I can haul moose meat, beer, dounts, whale blubber, and Zambonis around the map.
(Kidding. . .)

well - there you go. you should then know if you like pbs, if you like uk train sets or us or canadian train sets....
Re: Full grf packs
I have tried lots of combinations but still havent managed to build a working set of graphics. My problems have pretty much been like this: I find a new cargo graphic pack and install it just to see that i dont have anything to transport the new cargo with -> I have to search for a train pack that has the carriers for the new cargo -> original carriages dont work anymore -> bye bye maglevs etc. etc.
What I would like you to do is recommend me a working set of graphics that would give my open ttd these addons:
-original engines and carriages usable and working
-new cargo and carriages to transport it with
-new airplanes and ships ( want to use the originals too though )
thanks.

Re: Full grf packs
If you are using a nightly build (don't know about stable versions), you can have almost infinite different trainsets loaded. Howevery, if you load one or more trainsets, the standard-engines will disappear, but you can add them as a grf, so you have the original ones + your favourite trainsets. You can find the grf in the openttdcoop grf set or probably at grfcrawler...
Then you can also use the standard engines with the carriages for the new cargo you get with the other trainsets.

Re: Full grf packs
Ok found a graphic now which allows me to transport new cargoes without a new trainset. Still one problem: If i f.e. use a new planeset and origengs, passengers etc. wont get into the original planes, making origengs.grf somewhat useless for me
Any ways to fix this ?

Re: Full grf packs
Why do you want to combine original vehicles with vehicles from a newgrf anyways? They probably don't fit together graphically or stats-wise anyway...
Well to answer your question, if the newgrf(s) you're using don't have an option (parameter) to not disable original vehicles (which they most probably haven't), you're out of luck for ships, roadvehs and planes. AFAIK there's no standalone newGrf for the original ships/rvs/planes available.
For road vehicles, you may want to use the "(extended) generic road vehicle and tram set" (extended is an extra version for OpenTTD with earlier vehicles such as horse carriages; this is still in beta stage). This set provides a set of road vehicles and trams in the spirit of the original vehicles, give it a go.
here is its thread. And in this post is the latest version of the "extended" set[/url].
Don't forget to turn on the "Allow multiple newgrf sets" option..
edit: that doesn't mean you should use both of them; all the vehicles from the normal set are included in the extended set!

Re: Full grf packs
Afaik the original vehicels GRF from Peter does add all vehicles, means trains AND ships/planes/rvs..Roujin wrote:AFAIK there's no standalone newGrf for the original ships/rvs/planes available.
(Else I would need to change our Table.)

Still work in progress: OpenGFX or/and OpenSFX - Please help!
Re: Full grf packs
Whoops, seems I was wrong.
Just checked and confirmed what Ammler said. At least for RoadVehs. (Didn't check for the other two..)
So if you use this set in combination with any other newgrf set (with multiple newgrf sets option enabled), you should be able to build the original vehicles...

Re: Full grf packs
BTW if you check around GRFcrawler and the forum there are a couple of handy things-
"old wagons, new cargoes" lets you refit the original trains to haul the new cargos.
"Refit default RVs" does the same for the trucks and buses.
There is also an ECS adapter for the US train set.
