Romanian Set

Post by CMircea »

I decided to create a Romanian graphics set, which will replace all trains and buses in the game. This is my first set, so don't expect much quality, but I'll do my best.

I will include trains from other countries, as we don't have a big history of trains and the steam trains were mostly brought from other countries. BUt for buses, we have a lot of them around here.

So far I have made the first-stage wagon, in blue color. I want to make it dual company color, but I'm not sure which color is for 1st CC and which is for 2nd CC. Any help?

Why are you guys always posting the palette in the wrong order?

This would cause misunderstandings if people are referencing to pallette entry numbers.

See for the correct (windows) palette: http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php ... oordinates

OMG, that looks so messy. The 'private' one looks nicer.

@Purno: Thanks for that and for your tutorial! /me goes back to drawing.

EDIT: Passenger Coach MK-I in 2CC attached. Now: All my graphics are free to use in any set unless stated otherwise. Hope it's clear enough.

First of all there's no need to get angry ;)

Second of all, this is the pallette I've been working with from the start, assumingly the DOS Pallette. He also seems to be using it, so it was a logical step to post the same DOS pallete file.

Pardon? What you´re calling "messy" are just additional helpful explanations. That´s why Oskar has "sliced up" some of the colour areas. This has nothing to do with the colour entry ranking.

I do know the DOS palette very well. Nevertheless you´re showing it upside down and mirrored.

The correct DOS palette is attached. Please use this arrangement when advising new users.

Have some respect for Michael, Desolator. He's been drawing sprites for TTD a lot longer than you have.

Mind posting a 20x20 version? Irfanview will mess the colors with Lanczos filter (others will do even worse), and without resampling the color squares are randomly resized :? or even better, the Windows palette in 20x20, please?

Nevermind that, I forgot that I could flip Purno's palette. Is there any palce to find the Windows palette (I know that GRFcodec can convert from DOS to Win and vice versa, but I'd like to have it in a separate PNG file)?

I have just finished a Diesel loco and a DMU, more specifically Class 82 and Class 77. The DMU doesn't have the lighting effects as the diesel loco 'cuz was lazy, since they're time-consuming.

The Diesel loco was drawn before the DMU, and here are the pics:

I attached the PNGs (2CC, DOS palette).

The class 82 looks like a good start, but it is still too 'clean' and plain looking.

Not bad for first loco though. I'm not sure what detail to put, since the sprites are small.

You've obviously got the dimensions down perfect, which is half the battle. :D I had a quick go at a side view to give you some sort of idea of the detailing you can put in. The side view generally has the most detail in it - the diagonal views can be trickier.

(Note I only found a couple of photos of this loco, so it might not be terribly accurate.)

I changed the side & | views. I must say that the | look kinda odd.

@the diagonal views: I guess that Photshop's perspective feature can come in handy.

May I ask what benefit the posted pcx file has? If you download the png (because browsers will convert it to true color sometimes) and open it you will see it has a TTD Windows palette...

I'm confused. Some say it the DOS palette, other say it's the Windows one. :?
