Increased height.

Post by uzurpator »

Ok - we cannot expect having increased map size any time soon ( :( ), but I wonder. Is it possible to increase the maximum height of a map?

For now we have like - 16 height levels, while truly mountainous map could sport 32 or more levels...

Larger maps will be easier.

You mean like, there is a non-zero chance of getting that mythical 2kx2k map (with 256 height levels ;) ) to play forever and ever and ever...

I guess he means making the map higher is even harder than making it larger. Could be wrong tho.

Higher maps could be fun tho, since you can make mountainious areas. However, it would be even nicer (and more realistic) combined with larger maps. And besides, I'd be fun if you can make rivers in the mountains, but that means water should be able to built higher than at sea-level.

I also guess it'd be easier with the new map array (which, AFAIK, is being worked on slowly?)

But it won't. Because rivers flow down hills. Canals go down in locks and need a lot of space.

Great Jumping Jehosiphats! Shades of Sim City! Can hydro electric generating stations be far behind?

As nice as it may seem on the surface, this was one of the many features (or lack thereof) that distinguished TTDX from Sim City.
