I suppose you have the idea about how it can be changed?
No, I didn't. But maybe...
Do you mean changing STR_INDUSTRY_VIEW_WAITING_FOR_PROCESSING or you know how to change it for specific industry?

Oh... those are game-defined strings - I wasn't aware of that and assumed that they were provided by the extra string one can provide

You can't change openttd-specific strings, of course - nor do I see a way currently to supress that, it's tied to the callbacks CBM_IND_PRODUCTION_CARGO_ARRIVAL and CBM_IND_PRODUCTION_256_TICKS (bits 1 and 2 of the callback flags) and changing that... is much more lengthy, especially as it works fine for all cargos except when it's people.

Don't mind my suggestion / complaint in this case ;-)

May be you should report it on http://bugs.openttd.org ?

i think there should be a way to suppress this altogether, like with FIRS supplies, the given data makes absolutely no sense.

I'm not going to post this a bug report because I think there is too much play testing and competent programming displayed here to allow that to happen.

Rather I assume I am doing something wrong and request guidence.

I have just upgraded to the ECS Vectors v1.1.2 on openttd 1.1.1.

Running only the ECS sets in the order town, basic, houses, agr, chem, con, mach, wood all jun2011 releases except the construction vector which did not seem to be updated.

The games crashes consistantly on load during map generation.

This error does not seem to happen on the 2009 ecs vectors using openttd v1.1.1

windows error message is "not reached at line 296 of . . . \src\newgrf_txt.cpp.

I do not have the skills to hack, modify or play with the settings and although I am listed as a NEW furom user that is due to losing my initial very old registered user name .

I've been playing ttd and openttd (20 years or so now) since it came out , it is my favorite game and George's creation/modifaction turned my all time favorite into the best dam game on the planet bar none.

So . . . gentleman! Your expertise and assistance is kindly requested

Budgie

I tried to reproduce this issue, and failed.
Map generation in 1940, using 1.1.1 and that exact list of newgrfs works flawlessly.
(although I think you need at least a vehicle grf or vehicle adaption grf to enable transport of all cargoes).

I think the language that causes the crash is the important factor for reproduction, which is in the bit of the crash log that has been cut out.

@budgie2011:
For now, just make sure that "hungarian.lng" is present in the correct folder; even if you are not using Hungarian.

I've done the Hungarian translation of the ECS vectors this summer...

Did I do something wrong?
Just for the record, two strings have the same ID in the latest version, so this causes some problems, but I didn't experience a crash. I was late to report this problem for the latest release, but it's already corrected on the ECS Translations page, so it will be OK in the next release.

No, you didn't. The problem is in OpenTTD that in the absence of a hungarian language file, the gender or cases which are used within the translation as found in the ECS vectors become somewhat invalid. This is normally not a problem as OpenTTD gets delivered with those lang files, but it becomes a problem when people delete the lang files which they "don't need" (here the hungarian one) in order to save about 5 Megabytes (size of one MP3 song) on their 2 Terrabyte hard disk.

I run 4 terrabyes Planetmaker - delete nothing :-).

Wouldn't pretend to know what to delete in the first place without risking a snafu.

Thanks again for your time.

The Windows installer comes with an option not to install the translations.
Plus the fact that each translation comes in it's own file leads to believe that you can safely delete the ones you don't need anyways. At least this is how it works with all other software I know. And yes, 5 MB isn't a lot of space, but still something you don't use needn't eat space IMO.

But given the fact that the installer allows not to install the language files, this is most likely an OpenTTD bug and not a user error. Maybe this can be resolved by letting OpenTTD only process the 7F and the actual selected language from NewGRFs and just skipping all other translations inside NewGRFs. That way it needn't rely on missing language files.

The easy solution of course is to remove the option to not install translations from the installer and adding a note to the readme that language files should not be removed...

EDIT: it appears that it has already been fixed, similar to what I suggested above. This fix is in OpenTTD 1.1.2, which should resolve the problem.

Apologies if I'm being a real idiot here, but do farms in the latest version not have any farm land? Just the farm building?

Farm land does no appear immediately when the farm is built, but it should start appearing in a couple of months. Also, fields only appear in game, not in scenario editor.

Hi.

First of all - many thanks for this expansion pack. I'm enjoying it very much.

I'd like to ask few questions since I can't find answer in documentation:

Example: Station supplies Sawmill, but due to irregular trains supplying it it sometimes drops with productivity very low and stops accepting wood (because with productivity level falls maximum capacity of it).

Question: If I force train to unload cargo and leave empty at that station which at the moment doesn't accept wood will I get paid in future and the wood from station will be consumed, when sawmill gets back to it productivity and capacity levels it usually is?

Also - I think productivity levels of industries fluctuate way to much. Sudden drops cause mayhem and disruption in whole network. As of above example:
Drop in productivity in sawmill causes refusal of accepting wood on station, which causes forests to drop on production. Overflowing it with cargo to revive it does little good, wood product trains leave very late as well causing paper mills having huge drops (and not accepting wood products and refined products) which cause printing works and refineries to drop (and not accept paper and dyes) which cause chemical plants and oil fields to drop. I know it's sort of realistic way, but it's really hard to balance. The worst part are those 75-100% to 3% drops.

I'm using All Wagons with New Cargoes 1.1, but I also have access to vanilla wagons (like oil tankers duplicated, but only one of them refittable to Gasoline, Dyes etc.). Is it possible to disable old ones?
George wrote:4) Should all the cargoes and industries be united in one GRF or not? My tests shows, that 4 vectors in one game is too much, but what do you think?
I think you should keep them separated for those who don't want to play with all vectors. Unless it complicates your work.
I actually play with all in one game. The more the better imo. Can't wait for those industries still not available :)

I include a screenshot of above network (in horrible quality due to file size limit). Direct link due to dimensions of the picture.

no, once dropped off at the station, it will stay there until another vehicle picks it up, or your station rating drops below 50% (at which point it will slowly disappear without payment). you can try having a small vehicle going back and forth a very short distance to deliver this cargo.

ECS vectors does not affect stations. Unloaded cargo is wasted if it was not accepted by the industry. But you can deliver it somewhere else. Usually, I make the route to the next sawmill, and if the first sawmill does not accept wood, trains go to the second sawmill. And in case first sawmill accepts wood, the train unloads wood and goes back to the forest. See http://wiki.openttd.org/Conditional_Orders for details

Bigger issue was behaviour of industries. With long trains and very long distances they travel trains come to station not very often but with huge amounts of cargo. Industry having surplus of cargo accelerates it's consumption up to 100% Ultimate level. Then it suddenly drops instead of gradually falling down with output. Also industry capacity falls down and network crash happens.
I know it is possible to turn on unlimited cargo capacity on industries, but I think it's the behaviour of industries that's rather erratic.

It's a screenshot of whole network. File would weigh 75MB if I used PNG, hence JPG that weighs only 4,9MB. Perhaps that's the reason why it didn't load - it's still quite large and loads rather long. But this screenshot is not very important.

Kind regards.
