Is there a mod to have more realistic income?

Post by Dark-Noir »

As I understand it right, the money you earn is determined by the distance you transported the items.
Leading to people alwas building a huge long railroad over all the map and then a half hour later once the the train arrives are filthy rich.
Is there some way to have a fixed income per item or something similar?
Like coal costs 20 and is sold at 30, and now I have to make good routes that generate more money than the transport costs.

I do not see how that would help making profits from delivered cargo independent of distance transported, which seems to me to be what the OP is asking for...

You run a transport company: you do not buy coal nor sell it. You are being paid for transporting it, and hence the further you transport it the more you are paid as in real life. Of course the factor which makes this unrealistic is that in real life businesses may not want to pay to transport goods half way across a country - this can be partially solved by using CargoDist or YACD.

yacd is what comes closest I think. It gives cargo predetermined destinations, so you can't go about carrying it all across the map, as it isn't accepted there.

There were some goal servers where the goal was to reach desired amount of cargo transported monthly or yearly. Something similar...
