The worst death ever.
Getting trapped in a traffic roundabout.

Re: The worst death ever.
I found such situation last(?) year in Delft. Oh well. I felt free to choose the direction which I thought would bring me closer to where I actually wanted to go, which was only s tiny piece of road of ~20m length or so.

I'm so glad there's no footage of my encounter with 'The Magic Roundabout' in Swindon a few years ago!

Last train journey I could be bothered to look up the headcode for: 04/02/2016, Mirfield to Batley, 2J34 1459 Huddersfield to Leeds, Northern Rail 144015

Re: The worst death ever.
Just imagine it as a circular road, with five roundabout junctions.
Then contract it right down to the size of one junction!

Re: The worst death ever.
There's one in Colchester as well. I have to pass by it every day on my way to Uni. It's not as scary as it looks... if you're familiar with it!!
Re: The worst death ever.
If you were unfamiliar with it, you could just navigate like a normal roundabout, the counter direction on the inside is for the flow of traffic to be improved by not having to navigate the entire roundabout.

Re: The worst death ever.
Basically, everyone who approaches it screams and proceeds at about 5mph, so even if they DO collide, there's not much damageDrury wrote:What the christ...

Re: The worst death ever.
I find that most sane people do that on mini roundabouts anyway. Ever played mini-roundabout roulette? Where 4 (or however many exits there are) vehicles approach at exactly the same time, and everyone sits there waiting for someone to go first? Fun.47434 wrote:Basically, everyone who approaches it screams and proceeds at about 5mph, so even if they DO collide, there's not much damageDrury wrote:What the christ...

Hemel is scary. Never done Swindon but it is unique.
Highways engineers are so lazy nowadays. Got a traffic junction problem? Throw roundabouts at it till it goes away!

Re: The worst death ever.
Lol, I have a suspicion that its more driven by money - any sort of grade separated solution or even traffic lights cost money.
Re: The worst death ever.
Im guessing its called the plough roundabout because everybody keeps ploughing their cars into it!
but thats really confusing, and i thought the Thurrock Services roundabout was bad!
