I think it's because you have another aircraft grf active. Go to the parameter menu for av8 and make sure that "enable dynamic engine pool" is turned on. Either that or disable the other aircraft grf.

I don't know why it would be giving an "unexpected sprite" error, though. You do seem to have an awful lot of active grfs; perhaps you're hitting some kind of internal limit? Try moving the av8 grf up the list and see if a) the error goes away, and/or b) the error reappears on whatever grf is now at the bottom of the list.

The error stays with av8 but depends on where it is in the list. I get the following:

How odd. Well in that case, yes, it's the conflicting grf ("Use-able default aircraft" for chingy28). I'll look into why it's showing the wrong error message in this case.

It's not that particular NewGRF which triggers it, I also get the same error with the hot air baloon (and thus I assume any other similar grf) when av8 has NOT the compatibility parameter set and it follows the conflicting NewGRF. There seems to be an invalid jump target following the display of that error description:

Code: Select all

   25 * 2 10 BA
   26 * 57 0B 03 7F "<FF>conflicting aircraft grf found "
         "(dynamic engine pool)" 00
   27 * 6 09 83 01 \7< FF C0
There's no target C0 defined anywhere. And the sprite C0 sprites further down is a real sprite which is at that stage indeed an unexpected sprite.

Thus either define target C0 at the end of the grf or possibly employ

Funnily I learnt something new about actionB right now :-O

Hmm, I guess there used to be a C0 in there somewhere that has somehow disappeared. :) 'twill be fixed, next version.

i know the B787 first vehicle release was broadcasted on yesterday's news, but would it be a good idea to produce this (probably) interesting plane with mid-price and low running cost :?:

according to boeing's jet commercial airplanes page http://www.boeing.com/commercial/prices/ its cost is between a 777 and a 767

not that i want 100% realism for av8 ( leave this to WAS), but it marks an interesting step for mankind's plane tech
suitable for environmentally-friendly / -aware ottd users out there

the default airports cannot be rotated, but opengfx+airports provide similar airports that offer that option

If you're still planning to include more futuristic aircraft in a later version, then how about the Aeroscraft?

Just a thought. :)

Heres a idea for another cargo aircraft for modern day\future, the Airbus A400M, one of the larger propeller driven cargo aircraft. It has 4 turbo-props providing 11,000 HP and can lift 370 tonnes of cargo. It would be nice to have another huge European cargo aircraft. Also, parts of the aircraft are made with carbon fiber making it lighter and uses less fuel.

Also, for futuristic air craft, what about faster larger helicopters that can be used in inter city transport, and possibly a small futuristic VTOL passenger jet. Maybe even something like the heli\jet you fly on in Deus Ex : Human Revolution.

The Airbus A400M is already planned: http://users.tt-forums.net/pikka/wiki/i ... t_Set#2.01

I think you accidentally the decimal point there; it can lift 37 tons of cargo. Like Supercheese said, it's planned, as is the 787. :)

Does the Orque not fit this niche already?

As for the Aeroscraft, the only additional VTOL aircraft I have planned at the moment is a smaller version of the Skylift, freight only. There will be a "luxury liner" bigger but slower than regular airliners, but it won't be VTOL.

I probably won't be making a grf from these.
