Well... he labeled his 2nd contribution as "OpenTTD theme" to replace the first. I could change that... but he wanted to rework it a bit more if I understood it correctly.

@kamnet: In principle I do agree that some of those songs could need a few improvements. I'd also be fine to replace one song by another. Maybe you can give me a comprehensive list of songs from Tistou's which comprises 10 songs and that can then be changed; I included by my personal taste, but that's a subjective decision in parts. But at least for now I wouldn't want to reduce the number of available songs.

Uhm no, I didn't mean to say that, as I replied to it here: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=860776#p860776

The midi file I posted in that post was a New Song I am currently writing, not an improved version to the first one.. ;)

I would consider it quite silly if you didn't, as the second one is far from done yet :p

Thank god it was only a misunderstanding!

The "OpenTTD Theme" that came with the 0.1.0 really fits as the main theme.
Smooth Groove is also a great song while in the game, but not indicated for the main theme, imo.

Smooth Groove IS OpenTTD Theme! My second song doesn't even have a name yet!

Right, to clearify:

- My FIRST song was originally called Openttdproject (or something like that)
- I changed the name of that FIRST song to Smooth Groove
- I also posted a new song while I said that, a second one, which is still Work in Progress, WITHOUT a name

I think something is wrong in 0.2.0. Because in 0.1.0 the theme song called openttd_project.mid was 40 841kb, and much longer than the theme song (Smooth Groove) in 0.2.0. In 0.2.0. is the openttd_project.mid file is 14 081kb. And i think the song in 0.1.0 is better.

And if I installed RC3, it installed automatically OpenMSX, but only with 2 songs: Theme song and Keep on ronlling. It doesnt install the 2 other files from 0.1.0. After I downloaded from the content download the openmsx 0.2.0, but the theme song from 0.1.0 is missing. Smooth Groove and Theme song dont the same. One of them is 40 841kb and one is 14081. Sorry for my english

Maybe this unfinished song is Smooth Groove in 0.2.0. by mistake, and Theme Song is missing in 0.2.0.

Oh god, misunderstanding after misunderstanding.
Sorry for that.
What i really meant by that is the song I refereed as Smooth Mood incorrectly, is actually the new song that was included for the first time in 0.2.0.

planetmaker, could you fix that mistake (theme song is not smooth groove) in the next release, or for the stable 1.0?

AWESOME! I love it, give that bad boy a name and put it on BaNaNaS as the opening theme. I think it's a perfect fit now.

Thanks :)

Few things:

- for this version i give permission to use it under the ottds licenses
- i've been away for a while so i probably missed the 'howto' >> how do i put things on BaNaNaS?
- what about "free ride" as a name? Because it's the free version of TT :)
Or is that name already taken?

Interesting error...
Instruments should get automatically assigned when i export it from Nuendo...

Does it still play correctly despite of the error?
If yes, then it's probably something that i muted out or disabled that got exported.

If no - does the new midi file work correctly?

I can't answer that, as I don't have an idea, which instruments are dropped. But I have sound. I didn't test the other midis..

Edit: v2 has same error

It indeed sounds very nice and I'll happily oblige to make this due to popular demand the title theme of OpenMSX.

You put things into bananas by giving it a license which allows it to be included into this (or other) music sets. You just did that :-) There's no means to directly upload it to bananas. "Free Ride" will be fine. But I'll wait with commiting it until the problems discussed above are sorted out.

Ok, i looked into it, and it seems like it's a problem with your player, not the midi file :) This is from Timiditys FAQ:
Question:
I tried playing a MIDI file I got off the Net but all I got was a dozen warnings saying "No instrument mapped to tone bank 0, program xx - this instrument will not be heard". What's wrong?

Answer:
The General MIDI standard specifies 128 melodic instruments and some sixty percussion sounds. If you wish to play arbitrary General MIDI files, you'll need to get more patch files.

There's a program called Midia for SGI's, which also plays MIDI files and has a lot more bells and whistles than TiMidity. It uses GUS-compatible patches, too -- so you can get the 8 MB set at ftp://archive.cs.umbc.edu/pub/midia for pretty good GM compatibility.

There are also many excellent patches on the Ultrasound FTP sites. I can recommend Dustin McCartney's collections gsdrum*.zip and wow*.zip in the "[.../]sound/patches/files" directory. The huge ProPats series (pp3-*.zip) contains good patches as well. General MIDI files can also be found on these sites.
So, in short, i don't think you have soundbanks for every instrument that the GM standard is using. You said you didn't try out other midis, you probably should and i expect the same error to pop up :)

Any people not using Timidity having problems with the midi? Otherwise it's fine for implementation, based on this information.

And: lol @ confusing bananas :)
And: please take the last midi file i uploaded (v2), it has some minor fixes.

Problem is the patchset that is most often used with timidity (freepats) has a lot of missing instruments and hasn't been updated in 4 years...
He's like, some kind of OpenTTD developer.
