When can we expect the full version of openttd 1.0.0 to be released? I don't mind trying beta programs just that most people wont upgrade until a steady version released so this leads to lack of online competitors

I hardly think that 1.0.0-beta3 lacks of servers, see the bottom of this page: http://www.openttd.org/en/servers

Indeed it will be released when it is done. Though if you take a look on which dates things has been released lately you can see that the devs like to release things on interesting dates so while it won't be released until it is done, the release will probably happen on an interesting date.

I don't see anything interesting about the dates that the betas have been released, could you explain that?

Try finding a pattern in the release dates of all 0.6.x and 0.7.x stables: http://wiki.openttd.org/Release_History

Of course :) We never give a release date, so we can't be late.

How do OpenTTD developers actually decide who will make the commit for a new release? What about making the branch for 1.0?

The first 1.0 beta was released on the 24 December.

Of course they study the pattern of the moon which will tell them everything about when to do things and whom shall do which thing.

that is usually the job of the "lead developer".

Usually the person doing the releases is called the release manager!
Besides that, the history shows that (recently at least), there always has been some plan but that there are also enough cases that show that when there's a reason to deviate we do. As such the release date can be extrapolated, but also there is nothing that keeps us from releasing it on ANY other date.

Hi, I am a fluent Welsh speaker. I have just sent an email requesting Welsh translation responsibilities :-)
May I say how proud I am to see our (minority) language represented in such a great piece of software!

road trains? Can you point out which new feature you are referring to?

NewGRFs can supply you with articulated road vehicles if that is what you ask for. HEQS for example have quite a few articulated trucks.

OpenTTD has by default no tram vehicles. You're only given the option to build trams and their related infrastructure, if you activate a newgrf which provides trams. Get them via the online content service from the main menu of OpenTTD.
