Hey guys,

I have asked Xeryus about what's up... I'm going to tell you what his answer was when I got it ;).

Heh, I've been thinking of getting back to NFO coding just for this set a few times in the past year, however I am too busy usually :o I could manage a buggy release though with my old code :P

I wouldn't mind the buggy release, we can always just avoid the parts which are bugged and appreciate the others :-)

Or, of course, help de-bug it. That would make more sense than simply ignoring the bugged parts.

I presumed the issue was that he didn't have time to work out the bugs, not that he didn't know what they were. I'd be willing to show whatever bugs I find, but I've not even got the basics of NFO yet, so I can hardly help debug properly. Naturally others may be better able to help out.

I didn't necessairly mean that only one person should do it, as with most projects, it'd work better with people actively trying to find the bugs by any means possible, and then others who are willing to, identifying the offending pieces of code.
I'm looking into station coding myself anyway, because I'm thinking of getting my diagonal stationtiles in as non-track, so I might be able to help if I've figured it out.

I might currently be willing to drop my other main project seeing how good these graphics are :D and that project still needs a little more free time on someone else's side so it won't be released anytime soon anyway.

Just create a project on the devzone, submit your stuff. And then either you can continue to work on it - or, if you fail in doing so for whatever many valid (or invalid :-P ) reasons there can be - another person could at least pick it up from the point which you reached.

Hehe, the code is currently a mess in some places so I've already started on cleaning up and mainly on documenting. I can tell you that I made some bugs errors already.

whew! That took me one whole school period to read all of this!
Dear Red*Stars,
I believe that the stations you made (4 stations right?), like I mean 4 station sets. I must say, they are all very, very, very good! Just like what most of the other users can see! I'm not sure if the title is still updated (sorry if it is up dated, but I've seen some topics in other forums that don't have accurate titles. Is there a ETC to this, so like the first release date? Or anything close to an approximate release date. Sorry, the set looks just too good! Can't wait to have this in my OTTD games. Another question, is the airport which is used in this topic, available for download?
Regards,
bwong

Hello bwong,

thank you for the nice comments. Btw, you also have to thank the coder, XeryusTC, when the set gets released ;).
The airport is from Zimmlocks TTRS http://users.skynet.be/florisjan/ttd/ttrs.html#sp - and is downloadable, yes.

Unfortunately there is no release date, but as you can see from the discussion on the last pages, we are currently thinking about how to solve this problem ;).

Cheers,

Red*Star

Heh, it took me all day to change a few bits in one of the stations :o coding NFO after being out of it for a year of so is no fun. It also didn't help that some sprites needed replacement but it wasn't documented anywhere :s

But well, I am coming near a version which I can release for global testing etc :)

Dear XeryusTC and Red*Stars,
My apologies to XeryusTC, and thank you Red*Stars for reminding me, and I certainly will thank you both when it is complete, and also now. I went over the entire topic again, and I have to say, thank goodness for coming out with these ideas and all.
XeryusTC wrote: But well, I am coming near a version which I can release for global testing etc :)

Thank goodness for that too!
Another question: When drawing the sprites, did you have to draw for all the sides, just like a normal sprite? and also, was Photoshop used for this project?
Regards, with thanks

Simple MS Paint will do.

You can use paint like petert says, however you will need another piece of software to convert the image's palette and format for it to actually be usable.
Generally software like Photoshop or GIMP (to name two examples) can be used to draw and setup the image in the right palette and format.

I don't know what your intention on this question is - if you want to draw yourself or just want to know how I worked. (Or both.)
However, I have used Photoshop, yes. As petert mentioned, it's not mandatory, but makes some things like correcting the shading after mirroring objects a lot more organized, sometimes also more comfortable. Finally it turned out that it *especially* made modularized work and therefor reusing objects/tiles much more comfortable. [And it supports graphic tablets well, but this was only an issue on another project.]

I also don't know what your notion of a "normal" sprite is ;). The company statue found in TTD for example needs exactly one view (per tile). The stations need two views (per tile), so I to drew these for my stations as well and vehicles need eight views (per object), IIRC. Is the latter one "normal" for you?

My intention was, because I want to start to draw some myself, as it does seem very interesting, and also partly on how you worked on it. And when I said 'normal' I meant the sprites for a train. Sorry about the mix-up, because when I first read on how to draw sprites, the example was about drawing sprites for trains.

bwong
