Nice building again, Born_Acorn!

Here a screenshot of the statue as posted by Spaz O Mataz and the balloon trees as posted by edorfaus.

Looking at the statue ingame, it has IMO quite a bit different style than or maybe rather a bit out-of-proportion with respect to the town itself. Not sure whether that's good or bad :). I've implemented it in r136, but judge yourselves.

Edit: @edorfaus: The re-worked upside-down cone looks indeed much better to me. I'll wait for a re-make of all of them before I include them into the source, if you don't mind doing all of them in that style :)

I think the main problem with the statue is that it is completely flat - no lighting effects or shading at all. This makes it look like a poster image...

The black outline is the worst bit... Try taking that off...

Here it is without the black line and a little touch up of the shading to make it more noticeable. and about the credit, my user name and real name beside will be spot on.

I also now looked at the piggybank.

IMO it looks great! :) Looking at close up it looks like the safe is a bit dented or curving at the left corner, though I think it's intended to show a bit curved base plate, if I gather it right?

Maybe you can change the colour shading approx. to something (concerning differences between dark and light, not the colours themselves) like the bank uses? It would IMO add quite a bit to a 3D impression, and match the light direction of OpenTTD.

Actually, it's trying to imply a plain indented base, although 1px in height is not quite enough for that. And the corners are supposed to be rounded...

I guess we mean the same :) A round plate-like thing beneath the safe itself.

i drew them both at two completely different times. the statue i drew back in school with a friend on old windows 3.1 and paint, which i shrunk and recoloured to the ttd pallet and the block was done by drawing over the original graphic to make sure it was the same size. I'm looking at how to change the shadow as my friend done all the touch ups with that statue. if anyone wants to go on it and fix the lighting and give it a touch up please feel free as after looking at it for a couple of days and reading up on the lighting and shadows and have got nowhere with adding these to it.

would copying the size of the block be a copyright infringement? when I do things like this I always do it as a transparent layer over the original to help and compare.

It's all a sliding scale of legality; some things (eg. a cuboid) can't be copyright as there is no creative input to them, however it is best to avoid tracing copyright work wherever possible...

I tried to give it a bit of 'roundness' by applying a gradient to color saturation, but I'm not sure I have succeeded.

I think it looks definitely like it has more depth. I think the base socket got a bit too noisy now, though

Yes, it became a bit too noisy overall. That's because I don't have a good TTD-Color-Reduce program, I just apply the TTD palette to a modified 32-bit color copy of the sprite. But it might be a start (or inspiration)...

OTOH, the noise isn't visible when viewed at the natural size.

Be honest, even I can see the noise there... ;)
Hmm, what should I put here...

Maybe it's time for me to invest in a new screen?

I don't mind, no - that was my intent. Here.

The diagonals were a bit annoying to get right (still not sure they're quite right, but good enough for now), so I considered switching to horizontal lines - but by the time I thought of it there wasn't that much left to do , so I didn't.

These are based on the "fan" version, so the same offsets should be reusable.

I just did, and I can see it. But if you can't see it, why add it? It's there for a reason.
