Do they work on any other patch packs or is it all of them or just mine and also what error are you getting from it

The main difference is: he didn't bother which patches were updated. He asked once in his thread where he layed out the idea and that's it. Then prepared a working patch with what he got and, especially, gathered himself. He didn't _expect_ other people to do the work, nor did he spread the patchpack over the whole forum.

Despite that, you see what happend with this patchpack after two or three releases...

Ok i had the same sort of idea but failed to get it working as i would have liked but i am sorry about it and at the moment the patch pack is looking preaty good will i think it is

also i did not mind as what patchs i wanted i just listed all the patchs that i think are good

This was only ment to be an idea not a patch pack that i had to make myself fort we anit had a patch pack in ages so i was asking for some one to make one

can other patch makers update there patchs to R16183 please so this build gets going faster

lets start from the very beginning, reading the first page of this thread shows that you were given a HUGE amount of help with regards: 1. not patching a binary, 2. source control, 3. patching, 4. compiling (and that this is not done using tortoise!), .....

now, before i continue, ask yourself again if you really did not receive the same amount of help, and if you still believe we helped you less, consider why it may have been the case!

wleader did not need help on patching, compiling, coding. he was very well able to update patches too! he did not run around the forums asking people to please update his work else he would not include it in his patch pack! he was at a place where people asked him to add their work to his patch pack!

make a difference if you need to babysit someone who is trying to patch openttd, or if that person can do it on his own!

so you of course did not receive exactly the same help as wleader did, if you had, you would not have known what to do with the stuff! instead you required help with the very basics. the time invested in 'teaching' you has to of course come from somewhere!
i cannot say you did not come very far - that'd be wrong - you started from 0 and got to 1 (on a scale from 1 to 10)

annoyances is another factor! walking around asking everybody to do your work (updating patches, resolving conflicts) is another thing which will stop people from helping you.
patches are not created to work with other patches (only in rare cases are patches designed to be incremental, and then also not to other random patches)
a patch pack author should understand the basics and more in order to patch, code, resolve conflicts, and understand what he is doing, and which parts of the game he is fiddling with!

someone who wants to achieve something should also show a willingness in reading documentation on that matter - using google, and reading documentation one is given is a must! there is no point in trying to help someone who refuses to read documentation - or showing initiative in another way!

however, i will add that i am actually surprised how far you got at all!

sadly - patch packs simply don't live as long as the authors initially indent them to. seeing you give up all the time ("i will not continue unless someone does x") simply proves that patch packs are temporary fun but no long lasting projects. it also proves that patch pack authors should be capable of a few things (i.e. in this case: have an understanding of what they are actually doing, rather than just clicking a few buttons here and there).

i hope you dont take this too personal, but rather see it as a kick up the fuzzy rear end, to 1. not give up so fast, 2. show initiative, and 3. not to constantly ask others to do your work! (and 4. to not be so whiny when people dont help you as much as you want them to)

people here have jobs too you know ;-) they for sure have more important stuff to do than spoon feeding someone svn ...

I agree with most of what dihedral, but I want to emphasize this. Congratulations on coming this far, and I hope you won't give up, but don't expect others to do the work for you.

And maybe maybe later on you will find out that you have been helped much more than what you think.

Keep on trucking double 0 seven but please, be more discreet and start swimming on your own.

success!

Much better Alain.

You will find a 256 colour array for the smallmap heightcolours at the end of the logfile of the moreheightlevelspatch. (posted with v10.)
You might need it in combination with the bigger maps patch.
for maps of size 8192 *8192 you will need 512 colours to cover all possible heightlevels.

If you do not like those brown tiles (untill they are replaced by black)
Try SPR_FLAT_ROCKY_LAND_2 in dummy_land.cpp.
They are a litle easier on the eye.

Playing with my patchpack? Ask questions on usage and report bugs in the correct thread first, please.
All included patches have been modified and are no longer 100% original.

Thanks for the great patchpack Alain! :D

And I agree 100% with seancharlos that the only really important thing still missing is improved time/timetables. Oh, and traffic lights would be nice. But beggars can't be choosers, especially if the choosers decide to discontinue their work...

I have yet to experience a single bug (outside of the 'brown land outside the map' visual error). It's working fine for me until now. :)

Thank you Alain for your effort. We all aprreciate what you did here. Maybe is time for me to learn C++ to continue this. I only know just how to apply a patch and build a win32 release. Hopefully many pacthes from here will get to trunk, like max subsidy distance, copy-paste, new grf gui, station gui, more cond orders. These patches are very very usefull and necessary. Maybe devs will take a look at this patches.

I hope after you finish your game, you will continue this patch pack.
The rest is confetti!
