So, any chance for an update on this set?

Unfortunately I couldn't draw to save my life but if you need anything coded, I'd be more than happy to help. :)

As I said half a year ago:
AndersI wrote:Just because nothing seems to have happened for a long time in this thread it doesn't necessarily mean "dead and gone...", there is actually *some* background activity. But as with most projects here, Real Life has a habit of interrupting now and again.
I have a number of engines in the works (it's much more fun to draw the _ view than to produce the full 8 views):

Thanks Irwe! Well, the set is growing very slowly for the moment. I have lots of ideas and starts, but it's a bit difficult to take the time (from family, house, sleep etc.) to finish them off. But it isn't dead!

As for the "I can't draw", I would say "that's a lie!" :-) Everyone can draw if they spend enough time trying. Take a look at Purno's tutorials (just remember to add one layer of pixels in the diagonal views, the illustrations in the tutorial are not all revised, it seems (understandably)). Start by playing with something simple, box-formed, and you'll soon find yourself hooked (or not, after the twentieth try on a diagonal...).

Wow that was simple. Which program is most used to draw these, paint? If so I will try to draw something easy like a cointainer.

Edit: I have done an ICA container based on the containers done by Anders :D . Not sure about the colors though.

Looks like you've drawn a container in correct size, then enlarged it, and added a detailled logo which can never be that detailed in the correct size.

About colors, if you'd pick colors from the TT palette, you should be fine.

As Purno says - you have started from a 2x zoomed picture and drawn on it in 1x. Unfortunately, that's not possible. The original container is 20 pixels long, which leaves very little space for details...

Yes, but it will be futile to try to get the same detail level in the diagonal views:

It's better to just try to catch 'the idea' of a sign, than trying to recreate it.

Not bad for a first try, but you have changed the sizes in the vertical and diagonal views. As the container is 20 px in the side view, it should be 10 px in vertical (+ the front side) and c:a 10 px in the diagonal (I used 11). Also, your diagonal views look lower than mine, because you have used one color all the way on the top + top side. The outer edge of your top is actually part of the side, and should be almost as dark as the side(s). By using more colors, we're trying to fool the eye to see what isn't actually there...

I see what you mean. In this exemple I've just recolored your cointainers from the example and added the ICA sign.

Now we're getting somewhere! The rightmost container \ has a bit too large contrast between the wall and the sign (the sign is too bright compared to the wall). You might darken the sign a bit and/or brighten the wall. In the side view _ I think you can make the sign one pixel longer to the right, maybe with a slightly darker tone. Also, something might be done to the upper edge in the side view to make the eye believe the sign is slightly higher. I haven't tested with the TTD palette, there might be a problem finding a color that is right. Don't be afraid to experiment with pixels of different color, sometimes (not always!) it might look better that way...

I've made the sign on the rightmost container much darker and I'm experimental further with the containers, I didn't know drawing could be that much fun :D .

I've noticed something about your Uad (ore, coal, grain) wagons. As seen in the picture I've refitted the Uad wagon to iron ore but the ore in the wagons shows up grey like coal. Is this a graphical bug or is it suppose to be like this?

That's actually as intended. Iron ore is gray, coal is black, but the difference isn't very noticeable.

So, I've finally come to the coding of my container car - 12 different load layouts (The train will get a different cargo layout each time it has been empty), test for Green Cargo engine (mostly Green Cargo containers if so), and it all seems to work now. Only a number of alignment adjustments, and I might have a new version out before the weekend is over.
